You know you have reached that age!

I hate to say it, but I have reached that age where it seems like every time the phone rings it is not to bring good news but to tell us of another friend who is having a health crisis or has passed away.
How do we handle these situations? Are we relieved when one of our dear friends has passed that they are no longer suffering or are we sad that they have left us? When it is someone who has led a long and meaningful life does that made it easier than a young person who still has their life ahead of them. No, it is not any easier but it does bring comfort knowing they did have a full life.
In just the last 6 weeks we have lost 6 residents of our community. Of course, living in an over 55+ community, we have all passed a certain age and made it to the point of where we want to relax and enjoy our retirement. Still doesn't make it any easier to say our final goodbyes and especially when it is someone we were very close to.
Our dear friend, Tommy said he would not make it to July 5 and he went out with a bang on the 4th of July at 11:35 PM. RIP good friend. You are now with your beloved wife, Karen.
