This is DH & I in front of Oak Hill Mansion on the campus of Berry College in Rome, GA
We stopped there on the 2nd day of our trip north and took the tour of their museum, the mansion and I visited their beautiful gardens. As it was drizzling, DH decided to skip them and that might have been wise as I slipped on the flagstone walkway and hurt my knee and twisted my back but glad I got to see the gardens.
One of the gardens
The fish garden (where I slipped and fell)
The early morning fog over the mountains looking from our motel in TN.
DH in front of the Chickamunga National Park visitor center outside of Chattanooga, TN
One of many monuments in the park. They give you a map and you drive thru the park to the sites that are marked by a number and then you dial on your cell phone and you get an audio tour of what happened at each site. Very interesting and worth a stop. Just wish it had been a nicer day-still drizzling!
Mama, papa, and baby fawn we saw while driving thru the park. They started to run away but then decided we were harmless and went back to grazing.
Not far from the deer, we sighted this tom who originally had his feathers all fluffed out but when he realized we were stopping, he got to moving the two hens into the woods. It was quite funny to see how he herded them away from us.
This is another turkey that wasn't far from the other 3 but it was trying to be very inconspicuous by stretching out beside the tree!
These were two swans that came into the lake in front of our friends rv. There lake connects to 2 other lakes and generally the swans stay in the other lakes as there are lots of kids in this one swimming.
I hope you can see the bunny that kept trying to eat Betty's flowers. She finally put wire around her rose bush as he was eating it down to the base.
When we went to Shipshewana, IN we saw a lot of Amish. It was quite interesting and wish DH had felt better so we could have stayed longer. We did get in 10,000 steps walking thru the flea market.
This is DH relaxing in front of the camper we rented for the week.
DH loved this 1929 Ford that we saw along the road so had to stop and take a pic.
DH & I in front of Santa Fe restaurant in Troy, AL, our last night on the road.
DH at the welcome center when we got back into Florida.
Weather was beautiful while we were In Michigan and it was a a relief to get away from the heat for a few days but it was an even bigger relief to get DH back home as he was miserable most of the time. When we got back and got into see his gastro doc we finally got the diagnosis-he is suffering from Crohn's Disease so now we have a reason for the GI bleeds. He has started medication so we are in hope that he will go into remission. For now we won't be going away from home till we can get things under control.
