Mini trip south

Friday, October 03, 2014

In front of the car was our condo on the bottom floor that we called "home" for 3 days

Our hubbies enjoying the "scenery" on Lido Beach

Just one of the many birds we saw while enjoying the beach

Cute car we saw at the Car Museum in Sarasota

This was a tower of elephants carved out of a tree that was on display at the auto museum
For only $19,900 you can take this one of a kind masterpiece home with you!

Abraham Lincoln's funeral hearse also on display at the museum

This cute little tree fog was caught in the enclosed patio so Vickie caught it, we took some pics and then put it out where it was free to roam.

There were a lot of jellyfish washing up on Lido Beach so we were very careful to not get stung. They also were warning people to be careful of the Man of War also.

These weird twig structures were in front of a school in Sarasota. They were behind a high chain link fence but we still managed to get some pics. We have seen something similar in New Harmony, IN several years ago.

The 4 of us enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at The Village Café on Siesta Key-highly recommend the food there.

Way too much food but it was delicious.

When we went in Publix to get a birthday cake for DH, this was the sight we saw. Escalators up to the store which was on the 2nd floor and then when you were done shopping you rode down the other side and your cart rode a special rail in the center! The bag boy laughed at me taking pics-said he sees it all the time- Something we had never seen before!

Entry to the Marina in Sarasota

Our friends at The Hob Nob Café-an outdoor eatery that goes way back. It is typical 50's food served on concrete picnic tables!

This statue stand out front of the entrance to the marina and is a draw to come and take a pic.

Don't look up honey-I am not sure what is up there!! emoticon

Dear hubby and his birthday cake!

We ate our last meal before heading home at The Broken Egg.
We got quite a kick out of the tube people. They could be purchased at a shop called
The Tube Dude! They were used all around the area for different purposes.

Even with rain every day, we had time at the beach daily. When we could not go to the beach, we enjoyed playing cards in the condo and Vickie and I got in some pool time. We did some sightseeing and all in all had a good mini vacation to celebrate DH's 75th birthday!
