DeLeon and Blue Springs State Parks
Thursday, May 21, 2015
We were off on an other adventure today-visited 2 state parks with our friends, Vickie and Sonny and a friend of theirs who is visiting this week from Pennsylvania.
This is the Old Sugar Mill Restaurant in Deleon Springs. This once housed a grand hotel at the springs and northerners came down to "take the healing waters" The water in front is the pool area and where scuba divers enter the cave area of the spring-we saw several divers practicing there today. Many folks come to swim in the pool.
This shows the back side of the mill where the sugar was processed-coals still sitting in the area.
The gears used in the mill
The water running out from the spring with DH in the picture
Blue Spring-over a million gallons flow out of this spring a day. The dark area in the picture is the entrance to the spring and again divers go down in here. The manatees come into this area in the winter as it stays a constant 72 degrees.
These are some turtles that were sitting on a log in the Blue Spring area
Original home at Blue Springs-it is being redone so no tours today.
Saw this squirrel as we were walking the trail-he was so intent on eating his nut that he wasn't too interested in getting away for me
We had a nice day and did lots of walking in both parks. Hope you enjoyed the mini tour.
