Back to Work

Every year our office manager takes the month of June off and this will be the 2nd year that I have covered the office for her. It isn't that the work is hard or that I wasn't an office manager/accounting supervisor for about 20 years but the fact that I do not do this on a daily basis.
I started the morning off by having to be there before 8 as the water authority does a test on our water quality every 3 years and I had to be there to let them into the manger's home which is attached to the office. She was scheduled to arrive at 8 but showed up about 7:50 so it was a good thing I got in about 7:40.
All of this is throwing a big wrinkle in my normal schedule which is to walk about 6:30 in the mornings for 90 min. Today I was out to walk by 5:30 and that seemed to work so will keep up this on the days I work. That gives me about 8,000 steps and almost 4 miles. It is too hot here to walk later in the day.
My first panic attack of the day came when I attempted to log into the computer. Oh my, I know I have the right password. What is the issue. Turned off the computer and brought it up again and realized when I did I had attempted to sign in on the wrong identity (she has 2 on the computer). Whew, glad it was something so simple.
I worked for nearly 5 hours and processed about half of the monthly checks that are coming in. Early in the month that will occupy the bulk of my time. As I do not do this job on a regular basis, I am not bonded SO I can only do all the data entry and copying and enter them into the log BUT I can't take the deposit to the bank. Crazy as I could make off with the checks doing this more than taking them to the bank, but that is good-saves me from having to make that trip-I hand it off to our President and he gets that job!!!
I guess we will see what tomorrow will bring. I will be covering thru July 3 for our office manager so by then should have it all figured out.
