Valentine Wildlife Refuge

Interesting mural on a bank building in Nebraska-we had stopped to eat our lunch at a restaurant across the street and was intrigued by this mural. My photo really doesn't do it justice.
We stopped at a wildlife refuge/conservation area in northern Nebraska and was surprised to see this large herd of buffalo.
We stopped at the Visitor Center in the refuge and got a look up close at a stuffed buffalo and learn some interesting facts while there.
This big bull came right up to the fence-these animals are HUGE!
This cow and calf also came close to the fence.
As we were leaving the refuge, we came upon this small waterfall.
Sometimes it is good to get off the beaten path and go to the smaller places-not well marked or advertised but gems none the less. We all enjoyed spending a few hours in Valentine National Wildlife Refuge even thought it was drizzling rain. We also saw lots of little prairie dogs but I can't seem to locate their pic so going to have to go thru more-I took over 500!
Hope you enjoyed this portion of our trip.
