Merry Christmas!

Saturday, December 24, 2016

My back was fine just before I went into surgery on my left shoulder. My Chiropractor Dr G had told me he would get it in shape before the surgery so my body could concentrate on repairing the shoulder after surgery. He explained that it would take much longer for the body to repair itself if it had to concentrate on more than one area at a time. It made sense to me!

I was talking to a gentleman while waiting to be called in by my physical therapist. I asked him if he had had his knee replacement as scheduled. He said no, the night before surgery he was doing exercises that his Dr had prescribed for him to help strengthen the muscles surrounding the knee and was doing them too fast and not paying attention to detail! He threw out his shoulder. He ended up in the hospital with a visit by his surgeon! Who told him due to this injury they would have to reschedule his knee replacement for exactly the same reasoning my Chiropractor had been explaining about two injuries and the healing process.

Any way to make this longer than necessary, my shoulder is healing nicely, physical therapy is going well. I have one more week in a sling and passive exercise. Then on to more strenuous exercise. I imagine it will be with bands not sure at this point.

I had gained 10 lbs right after the surgery but I knew that would be the normal weight gain from all the fluids and swelling from the surgery. This morning I was down 8 lbs. It only took just over five weeks since the date of surgery! HA I am glad I have had prior experience so I knew about the weight gain! I have had to be very careful with tracking my food. The third week after surgery I was able to go back to the gym and was allowed to only walk the track. It is so very boring! If I want to keep sane I will do it!

I wish all my spark friends a very Merry Christmas!

Good you're recuperating and you're so right about the fluid weight gain post surgery. Stinks, but hey, you're getting it off!

    Have a wonderful Christmas
