Just When you think You have it all Planned out

DH has been having issues with his shoulder for the past year and his orthopedic surgeon has been giving him shots during the time. The first one helped him for nearly 6 months so when he got the 2nd one, we had high hope it too would give him another 6 months. Nope, didn't even last 3 months. Dr. decided to give him a dual shot on the 3rd visit hoping that would bring relief but it only helped for a few weeks so DH decided it was time to discuss surgery. Now mind you this shoulder was repaired in 2011 - torn rotator cuff,
The first thing the dr did was to order a new MRI with contrast to see exactly what was going on inside the shoulder. Yep, torn again but even worse than the 1st time! So then we were off on the next quest to get approval for the surgery. Luckily DH already had an appointment with our primary care physician so he was able to get in there immediately the following week. In this questioning, DH admitted he had felt some chest pain in the past few months so the DR called our cardiologist right there from his office and made sure he was seen the next day! Well, the visit went good and nothing showed up preliminarily but as a precaution since DH had felt chest pain, he wanted an echo and chemical stress test so that was ordered for later that week. On Friday we found out that the stress test was abnormal so DR wanted a heart cath which was scheduled for the following Thur.
Imagine my shock when the surgeon told me that DH had gotten a stent. His widow maker was over 90% blocked and he would need to spend the night in the hospital. If DH had not decided to go ahead and seek surgery for his shoulder this probably would not have been found and the surgeon told me he likely would not have survived a heart attack. Blessings do come in many ways and we definitely feel that although DH can't have shoulder surgery anytime soon that this was a blessing.
I had taken our furbaby to the vet on the day before DH's heart cath to get her shots updated and the vet wanted to schedule a teeth cleaning as she has a couple of loose teeth but I put it off till this week. On Monday I called to set that up. At that time, the person I talked to told me to hold her food and water after midnight but that was my only instructions. This morning I went to take her in and they realized she needed bloodwork due to her age. DUH, no one told me to bring her in to do pre-testing. Poor baby spent 6 hours there and didn't even get her teeth cleaned-that is now scheduled for next Wed. She was quite ticked off when I arrived to pick her up!
In the middle of all this, I had to go for my annual screening at the dermatologist. Living in FL I feel it is necessary to be checked annually-I am exposed to a lot of sun and want to be pro-active. Too many of our friends have had many skin cancers removed. Luckily all was well on that front and I am good for another year.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring-we have 3 more dr appointments then! Hopefully no surprises-we have had enough for now.
