First small injury

The other day after a slightly more intense abs workout than I anticipated, I stifled a sneeze in an attempt to not involve my tender muscles and avoid spilling a cup of tea I was holding. This resulted in a cricked sore neck and splashed tea. The next day I soldiered on and went to a body pump class, I increased the weight that I used seeing as last week I didn't break a sweat. I felt alright during the class, but as the afternoon wore on, my neck started to feel worse. Cue some vivid imagining of worst case scenarios like stroke and aneurysm (I can be something of a catastrophist).
Nevertheless, the discomfort is only in my neck and doesn't seem to be involving my shoulders or arms. I let my PT know in advance so he could think about modifications, and we discussed it at the session: he reckons that maybe I hadn't been holding my head in the best neutral position for crunches and the sneeze was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. He adjusted the plan for the day and continually checked on my mobility and comfort, so I got a pretty good legs session. It is really great to have this kind of support and advice, because otherwise I would have probably just not gone to the gym waiting for it to get better, losing some consistency and momentum in the process.
