Sugar. What makes me feel good?
Saturday, February 02, 2019
I reread my blog post titled 'on the 21st day of December' and came to a realization....I don't even want that much sugar anymore, nor does the thought of it do anything for me. Since the fall I've been really focusing on how food makes me feel. Since January I've really started to act on it. One bite or two chocolates is ok, but more than that doesn't make my stomach feel good. It doesn't hurt that in the back of my mind I know sugar is empty calories, but in reality, as an emotional eater, that hasn't fazed me as much in the past. However now I'm adding into my lifestyle the whole- what makes me feel good? Sugar- no. Whole foods- yes. What makes my body feel good? Exercise- yes. Heck yes. Always, yes. I chase the endorphin high, I think.
Me: ommmm. Be one with the stomach...would that food make my stomach feel good? No.
Stomach: True dat.
Body: Agreed.
Me: For once we aren't fighting. Success! Celebration with a slice of fresh cooked salmon and a 15 min workout video instead!
Stomach: cheers.
Body: cheers.
Mind: cheers calmly without any demons.
Me: Is this what 'normal' eating is like?
The reality is I track my food and will probably have to track my food everyday for the rest of my life. However, I'm trying to listen better to my stomach. I really am. It's progress that is not scale-related. I'm trying to add logic into this, if that makes sense. Think logically. What makes my stomach feel better? What makes me feel better? So far I'm listening. Are you?
