Alexis was my sister's step daughter. Her husband's sweet girl from a previous marriage. My sister is a nurse and immediately took on that role for Alexis when they got full custody of her. She treated her as one of her own. Driving her to Miami for Dr's appts. She had sickle cell. When she was very young they were doing a routine procedure and she coded. They got her back, but after that she could not walk or talk. She has been a fighter though. They never thought she would make it even to 2 yrs old. A couple of days ago my sister called her Dr because she was getting very sick. She took her to the children's hospital in Ft Myers/Lee High. Found out she had sepsis from a UTI and adenovirus. Her blood pressure was low and hemoglobin 6. She fought for 2 days getting meds and blood transfusions. Her kidneys failed and she was swollen from fluid retention. Today they had to make a tough decision to let her go peacefully and painlessly in her daddy's arms. She was 6 yrs old. You will be missed sweet Alexis, but never forgotten.
Love,
Aunt Naomi
