A Good Thanksgiving

Hi everyone! I'm officially a Thanksgiving-buffet survivor and have lived to tell the tale. It was a church potluck buffet with all the trimmings and the tables (4 long tables) laden with fabulous foods of every kind. My normal reaction would have been to stop dead in my tracks and just stare the enemy down but I knew I needed some nutrition so I joined the line. My strategy was simple...go for the less dense foods (naked vegetables and fruits), limit lean protein choices to 4 ounces and choose good carbs; the ones that would give me some fiber. My plate was filled, but not overflowing as I've been known to do in the past and it was all so very delicious. I ate slowly and enjoyed the conversation around me, returning to the buffet once to get a taste of what my grandsons had each prepared and to refill my plate with the fresh green salad, low-cal cucumber ranch dressing on the side.

Dessert followed 3 hours later and I went for the less-dense desserts like crust-less pumpkin pie and stopped when I felt full - before I felt very full - before I got a bellyache. You know, now that I've lost 55 pounds, I belch much less after meals as long as I don't overeat. There was very little belching this time and a whole lot of enjoyment. It was a good Thanksgiving!!
