A day of fails

Saturday, January 18, 2020

So Saturday is my day at ceramics - I'm lucky in that the place I go to doesn't care if I work on ceramics or whatever so today I decided to try to work on a craft project and a 2 jewelry projects

Craft project - was doing some napkin decoupage to make some coasters - I had watch a video and thought "well I can do that" but decided to do it my own way - well I painted the coaster black (in the video it was not painted) and the napkin had a black background with a pattern on it so I figured it would work - the black paint bled through to the design - fail

Jewelry #1 - I get a bead box every month and am trying to teach myself some more difficult beading techniques than I'm use to (the last one took me 3 tries and 5 hours) - I started reading the directions (which I'm a visual learner so I got confused) - then I started watching the video - then for some reason got distracted and put it away - fail

Jewelry #2 - I saw this video about bead wrapping onto a leather necklace so that it looked woven - started watching the video then thought "well I don't have the right wire so maybe I can use what I do have" and I well since I don't have the right wire I can just sew to the necklace to anchor it" - after spending an hour getting the beads onto the 96" length of wire I was ready to wrap - and of course you can guess it didn't work appropriately because I didn't have the appropriate materials - fail

Moral of this story - don't try to take shortcuts - whether trying a craft for the first time and not following the actual directions or trying to do a weight loss program your way - trying to make your way fit the program - or life in general - it just doesn't seem to work out for the best

Thank goodness my Saturday is over - it's been frustrating - only because I frustrated myself

Not a complete fail. You learned lots of donts
Shortcuts don’t work for healthy eating either
