Now, I Need a Partner!

Sunday, June 14, 2020

I need the inspiration. I have been reading exercise articles and watching some of my old exercise videos. I was hoping to get inspired to exercise but, I guess I'm just too old.

When I was 69 I was all into exercising with my DVDs and going by the calories-in-calories out diet for years. That would work for me until I could not control my hunger, then I would put the weight right back on exercise or not.

Then one day, a younger friend came over while I was exercising and gave me a compliment. She said I can not believe that you can and are still exercising at your age. Well, that got me to thinking, why am I still killing myself exercising when I'm about to turn 70 and who cares anyway.

So, from that day to this I have not exercised and I am 73 now.

I said all of that to say this. I wish my friend had never complimented me. Because my thinking after that was ALL WRONG.

I have come to realize that it is important to keep exercising for my health. Not so much to look good but to stay agile, flexible, and have balance.

Well, I have found a way to lose weight and get healthier with my diet without exercise. I have actually brought my A1C down from 8.0 to 5.0, improved my triglycerides, liver, electrolytes, kidney function, and got my thyroid is in control. Now I need the inspiration to get back into exercising. I want to take some long walks and maybe ride my bicycle. But, I just can not seem to make myself start again. I think a walking partner would help. Do any of y'all live in Bonham Texas and who might want to walk?

emoticon You're so funny talking about age. I'm 74 1/2, yes proud of every 1/2 year, and just do more when I get the compliments for my agility. I'm currently doing Zoom exercising with my friends in Texas and Colorado (I'm in Michigan). We turn on a Youtube video and watch each other exercise via Zoom. It keeps us showing up to do it just like a class does. In addition, I walk alone 3 to 4 miles 6 days a week. I'm going to check out your virtual walking website.

If I lived close, I’d love to be your walking partner! It sounds like you’re doing great! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Awww y'all are so sweet... I am walking now. I started 4 days ago with my little Yorkie and sometimes my Dubby (with his broken leg) follows me riding on the golf cart up to the road where our mailbox is. Our house sits back off the County Road about a half a mile. So, up there and back is a mile and my goal is to get up to five miles in one month. By then I will be off and running so to speak (not literally running, I might break something).

I have joined a virtual walking website called www.Walking4Fun.com and that has inspired even more to move. Y'all might want to take a look at it.

I live on the west coast; if i lived in your area, of course i would walk with you. I am wondering if you have any neighbors you might talk to and see if they would like to take a walk? ... OR one thing i like to do (and i am almost 74) .... Is you can google Leslie Sansone and do any of her walking videos. They are fun, and you can even start with one that is 15 minutes. You actually feel she is right there with you; or any of them where a group is involved. (I must exercise with the problems i have in my body; if i didn't i would be totally stiff). ...But in addition, at any age, our bone health needs exercise, and strength training. Just some thoughts to try.
