Over Coming Our Influences

Tuesday, July 07, 2020

I'm leaving my 73rd Spring and entering my 73rd Summer. This Fall and Winter will be my 74th on this earth.

I remember when I was young, I couldn't wait to be 17. I don't know why but I think we all have that magical age that we can't wait to reach. Then once we reach it, it is sort of a let down because we realize that it's like the anticipation of opening a Christmas present and the anticipation is over once we're there.

Me way back when I was in my mid-'20s:

At some point in my life, I realized that I felt like I was in a fog. I don't know any other way to describe it. It has only been in the last few years that I have noticed that I was no longer in the fog. If I had to guess what it was, I would have to say life's lessons is what brought me out of the fog. Knowledge (life's lessons) is a powerful thing.

We all go through happy times and bad times. It's what we humans have to do to grow and build our beliefs. We are all influenced by the things we've lived through. Such as our up bring with the family, friends, religion, politics, nutrition, physical, and millions of other influences. We are the product of all that has made the biggest or smallest impressions on us.

Old fashion cooking with flour and sugar:

Yet, I believe we can overcome some of those influences if we keep an open mind and are determined enough to make changes. Such as our eating habits.

I wish everyone the best in their healthy weight loss journey.

I absolutely LOVE this. I can relate to everything you spoke of. I identify as a Boomer. My Dad, a WWII vet, was 46 when I was born. Being raised by a member of the greatest generation made me have a different prospective than most Gen Xers.

Looks like you and I are both from that magical baby boomer era!! 🎶....So many wonderful memories of times gone past and that is a beautiful picture you share in your blog! ...Like you, There were so many times I Couldn't wait to get to a certain age and then when you do you realize it's still just life. ....I guess in truth the best thing to do is celebrate every age and everyday because the time goes so fast doesn't it? ....I also remember those days of watching my mother and my grandmother Baking and cooking while wearing their crisp little aprons. ....Indeed the world has changed and I do hope you enjoy This year and the following here which is the same as me LOL! ...Always baby boomers at heart! ...🌞 .....🍒

Thanks for bringing some memories to mind. I remember those days watching mom cooking, it was magical watching her put this and that together and making delicious healthy meals out of next to nothing. I am about 2 years younger than you. Times have certainly changed. I am glad I am not 20. Times are rough for the young people. They may do things I don't understand or like but then I am not living the life they are.
