S.M.A.R.T. decisions

My idea of moving my garden (from way out back by the country road) closer to my patio and the outside faucet has proven to be an excellent and smart idea this year. This photo was taken on the 30th of June, this summer.

S.M.A.R.T.
SPECIFIC - to lose weight before my daughter's wedding on October 10th, 2020
MEASURABLE - to weigh my food intake and enter on my food tracker so that I will lose at least 10 pounds by October 10th, 2020.

I am filled with gratitude that my employer has allowed me to work from home since March 23rd due to the Covid19 pandemic. And I observe a mid-day lunch hour, today I picked more green beans from my garden and weighed them out to be 241 grams for an addition to my lunch which I have tracked.



ACTION ORIENTED - in addition to my yoga practice, I picked up my weights and strength trained yesterday, which I will continue to do. The high yesterday here in northern Indiana was well over 90 degrees so I chose to use a dvd for cardio to move more, after sitting in front of my computer for work.

REALISTIC - I believe this is a realistic goal as I look at my wee calendar here and count 6 weeks until my daughter's wedding date. To lose at least 10 pounds in 6 weeks, I believe, is realistic!

TIMED - I heard myself tell a good friend, one meal at a time. I am a sugar addict and this morning I threw the last few slices of bread away, because bread is a trigger for me too. So I could say, I want to strength train at least 3 TIMES a week. And I could say I want to spend my TIME moving more and sitting less! I set 30 extra minutes as a TIME for my last chance workout on Tuesdays. Early summer, I made a difficult decision to NOT return to the fitness club where I was teaching yoga due to the risk of exposure of covid19 to my yoga students and my own self care. I taught yoga every Tuesday evening and every Saturday morning for a TIME of 10 years. Now that I am finding myself with more TIME, I would like to use those TIME frames for more movement, like hiking in state parks this fall on Saturday mornings.
