Labor Day

Monday, September 07, 2020

It was sunny this morning, so I checked the forecast and it said high 74F! I immediately turned off the a/c and went around and opened all the windows. The a/c units were not actually cooling, just running their fans on very low, but why waste the electricity. Temps aren't supposed to get back above 70F until Friday or Saturday.

I am thinking we had a pretty mild summer here compared to most of the country - spent most of it in the mid-upper 80s, only got to the 90s a few days and I don't think we hit triple digits more than one day if we even did. I can remember one summer when we had more 100 degree days than Dallas did. We had just bought our second house and were trying to get it ready to move into during that summer - no air - thank goodness for the big willow tree in the back yard - we went out and napped under it when we got too hot. That was the summer of '88.

Today is a paid holiday for me - I am very grateful to have a job with paid holidays and paid time off for vacations. Next time off after today will not be until November.
