Making Changes for the Long Haul
Thursday, October 01, 2020
"Your inner life has to expand, or the outer expression of it will revert back to default setting: the easy, the dependable, the two scoops with extra whipped cream.
If you want only a different body, and not a different way of life, you can't expect the body changes to last, because there will be nothing to sustain them. In other words, you can't just lose weight and go back to business as usual without becoming overweight as usual. This has to be for the long haul."
----Fit From Within, Simple Secret #95 to Change Your Body and Your Life, p. 232. by Victoria Moran
This book is very motivational. And I highly recommend it. There are 101 very brief 2 or 3 page "secrets." I've quoted about 1/4 of the entry for this secret.
The biggest takeaway I personally have regarding this topic is that if we want to change our life circumstances it is up to each of us individually to take the steps to do so. We have the most control of things within our own sphere of influence. Regarding the impact other individuals and outside influences have on us, I believe it's in our interest to understand this too. We need to understand for example how our bodies work, the chemicals and additives in our food that encourage us to eat, and alternative responses to and ways to cope with stressors in our lives.
Each of us has our own unique life journey and I wish you much success in making the changes needed as you travel down your own personal road. We'll each encounter detours along the way, and it is up to us to determine whether we'll do nothing or find an alternative way when the bridge is out.
