It was heavily researched, on a weighty topic, and structured oddly. I don’t normally read historical novels, but this one won awards, and after 100 pages it began to come together. Never mind the title, it might put you off and that would be unfair.
Today my husband sorted through a pile of newspapers... The Desert Sun, NY Times, Wall Street Journal—- oh joy, finally the stack is smaller. I sifted through them , and realized I hadn’t seen them at all before. A treasure trove of great articles on such a wide variety of topics. Book reviews, food, travel, and the looming pandemic. Late 2019 and all through our stay in La Quinta when we rushed to leave.
I cut out all the crosswords, and set aside enough articles to keep me occupied for a month...I really miss papers even though I do keep up with several publications on line. It just isn’t the same. Give me ink on newsprint any day.
I do have another book in the works I found at a little street library. We passed it yesterday on a wonderful walk... this one has books in French as well. It’s one of the best ones for cookbooks too.
Today is a bit grey and perfect to do all my Friday chores ahead . I have a derm appointment in the morning, and very fine weather is expected. We will have the afternoon to spend outdoors. Could be the end of moderate days - it’s below freezing out west. Will there be snow?
There will, just a matter of time.
Soupe a l’ Ongnon .. all set for croutons and cheese. Really doesn’t need much of the garnish, it is wonderful on it’s own.
