Covid is getting closer to home...

Thursday, October 22, 2020

Our son-in-law, who is a police officer, learned today that the son of a person he works with every day has tested positive for Covid-19 and has to quarantine for 14 days. Everyone in the office is being tested... we will just have to wait to see what happens.

Then I talked to our daughter in Amsterdam, who has been working from home since March, and learned that Amsterdam is now considered a red zone, and that The Netherlands are having 9000 new cases every day! Germany, France and Belgium are all having huge outbreaks, mostly among young people who are not obeying the restrictions.

Scary times! If you read this, please be very careful and be safe.

Very scary times. The virus is surging here in Oregon also, mostly among young people (20s - 30s), and mostly through social gatherings. But also then to the workplace and families. I see people ignoring social distancing. I am glad that at least our governor is requiring masks, and limiting how many people can be in large public spaces (restaurants, churches, bars, etc.) -- but she is being challenged in court AGAIN.

My prayers go out for Chris and those he works with.

We stopped our Breakfast Club gatherings about 3 weeks ago and found out that one of the members and her husband have the virus. Her husband thinks that he got it when he went to a 7 person reunion of Railroad employees (he was an engineer) and brought it home to his wife. His wife went to visit her sister in Ohio (not knowing that she was positive at the time) and gave it to her. We are so thankful that we stopped the gatherings when we did. I don't think that we can be too careful.

    Stay well.......

Oh my goodness! Prayers for your son in law and all of his coworkers.
Yes, keep staying safe. People think it’s okay to proceed with life pre-Covid, Mistake.
    Hugs to you and yours.

My daughters complex has their first positive and this has become so political between our governor and president, republican vs democratic, neighbors against neighbors and instead of standing together as one it’s a fight of personal rights. Unsettling, uncertain times

I guess the young folk all over the world ...
    think they are immortal
and that rules do not apply to them.

the health/safety rules related to COVID are not truly to protect yourself...
they are to protect all those who share the same air and space as yourself.

IF everyone protected everyone else... we would all be safe.
