The past 2-3 times I weighted myself my weight and my bodyfat percentage have been going up. There is definitely a need to look critically at what I am doing right now and do a corrective measures. In October my bodyfat percentage was lowest it's ever been (during the time I have had my smart scale) and now it's past 30 again, so this is not just a small change. Muscle mass has been the same for the past few times, so at least it has not been going down.
Things I can identify that have changed and are a problem:
Probably the number one has been my obsession with protein bars. Let's face it, they are basically chocolate bars with some added protein. They are energy heavy, and do no good things for my attempt to get rid of my sweet tooth.
One single protein bar is not the issue, it's the fact that due to the Covid situation I have been shopping less often and buying larger quantities at the time. Unforttunately protein bars tend to fall under the category of things I have no self control over, and I have repeatedly eaten the quantities I have bought for a longer period of time in just few days.
Some protein bars are ok, if they are not too tasty. But the more they mimic candy bars the less self control I have.
So for time being I will stop buying protein bars, and when I do buy them again I will go back to the brands I have had success before, the brands that are eatable but not too tasty.
Other issues have been eating bread more daily, eating too little healthy protein (lol, other than protein bars!), reducing the quantity of vegetables I consume, getting lax with margarine, oil, calorie heavy condiments and treats, buying more convenience foods, not paying enough attention on portion sizes, and not exercising or being generally active enough.
So back to basics and heave the protein bars, that should put me back on track! This whole thing is great learning experience about how easilyand quickly - in just few weeks - the hard work and progress can be undone.
Edited to add. I just did s 20+ minute long PiIates session. Today I also get lot of stair climbing as it's laundry day. I hope to also walk to get a small parcel today.
For dinner I plan to make Parisian potatoes, tofu, a bit of pesto (only as bit because it so oily) and a side salad.
