A Saturday Adventure
Saturday, November 21, 2020
I had promised myself to get out for at least one long walk this week............ so today was the day.
I walked out of town and followed an ancient pathway, climbed a Carn and felt fabulous! I was so glad to be out - and saw very few people walking - it was like a Sunday in February!
This walk was part of a route I found out about from a local history group - there's a link here if you're curious.

It takes me 30 mins to get to Madron from home before the walk begins. I just did a little bit of it, because I discovered Trengwainton Carn and the old cross (which has been cleared) - and rambled around the Access Land there (owned by local landowners Bolitho Estates as part of the Trengwainton Estate). It feels so far away from the town - open moorland and expansive views.
I've passed this gateway before on my bicycle and thought "next time, I must explore up there" - today I did!
and it opens up into this grassy track
an old waymarking cross has fallen down, but the scrub has been cleared so it's on view - it was a nice surprise to find it there!
this was on top of the Carn - it's only 150m but still has fantastic views! Sadly it was a bit misty, so you can't see the full glory of it.
