Transition into the Third Age :)
Monday, November 30, 2020
Well, as lots of you already know, today is my birthday, and I'm 66 yrs old - officially the retirement age in the UK. No more National Insurance deductions - and I start receiving State Pension. It seems unreal that I've reached this age - I don't feel it - but at the same time, I accept it, and embrace it, and am looking forward to the new kind of things I can do now that I don't have the pressure of having to go to work every day.
Yesterday was my last shift at work - and I finished at 10 pm! I deleted all the emails in my work account. I deleted all the documents in my personal folder on the computer. I deleted my number from the work phones, and left the What'sApp group!
We couldn't have the usual party - so we had a meet-up in the garden with sparklers. The moon was almost Full, and it didn't rain! We were blessed. I was presented with a lovely gift of a sea-glass and stone picture which had been made by everyone contributing. That was a perfect thing for me to keep to remember my work life. I had no idea they were doing that - a complete, and wonderful, surprise.
I was like a kid this morning - up at 6am and too excited to wait to open my presents! I had some lovely things and beautiful cards. I had a flurry of exchanges on the phone - What'sapp and calls - which was also nice.
Today I went to donate blood - I had my fingers crossed that I'd be allowed to donate - and my Hb was 133 which was Very Good!
I also purchased a Xmas tree on-line - which will be delivered tomorrow - so tomorrow is decorating day.
And, it's the beginning of Advent - so I have my Lego advent calendar, the Mr Men mini-book advent calendar - and story-time with my grandson at bed-time is planned. And in my emails today I got a link to a neat advent calendar from The Open University with mini-learning modules each day. Cool!
that's me with the red top, jeans and pony tail!
