Morning Sparkies,
On Tuesday the 12th my Mother in law passed away ... she was 89 years old.
She had been in a Home for ten years after her Hubby passed away in 2010.
I first met her in 1983 just before I married her youngest son. She was very nice and we became friends :).
When I had my daughter in 1989 I had a time in hospital in a different town ;after blacking out for a few days, Hubby rushed down to my Mum's and took me back to his parents house as we were flying out to Australia when DD was six weeks old.
I remember very little of the stay I kept to my room just looking after the baby and resting with no feelings or emotions ( DD says I had a stroke) ... one night I went to bed early and Hubby's Mum crept in thinking I was asleep and kissed me on the forehead and left.
It was lovely I have never forgotten her kindness :)
They moved to Australia later and we spent many Sunday afternoons with our children at
their house. Men at the table, women on the sofa, telling stories of their lives in the war and their families.
When we visited her in the home she would always say "You are the nice one" even though she couldn't remember our names.
We lived close by them a few times in our many moves however it was in Australia we spent a lot of time together.
Hubby is a wonderful man and his elder brother has been ringing up every day keeping us informed of the plans, saying that no one wanted to say anything apart from him, Hubby and I said we would like to ... just a few memories of her kindness, mothering and help in our lives.
I have shed a lot of tears this week ... I am so grateful to be in this family and to have known
Jean.
The funeral is on the 25th ... a long wait ... Hubby has put photos of his Mum and the family on a 'stick' to play at the service, photos of all the family with Mum and added music. Den (Hubby's older brother ) was very pleased to get it yesterday as he has done so much himself wanting the best for his Mum.
We were all together here when their middle brother called and spoke to us all from NZ.
My world seems to stop in these times and everyone continues on ...
It is great to have you guys to share this with :)
Thanks for stopping by
Hugs
Christine
