Dentist, kitchen shop, seafood curry.....

Thursday, January 21, 2021

This morning, Able Mabel surpassed herself yet again. Today’s egg offering was 87 grams. Is there no stopping this marvel?!

I knew it would be a bitty day so I made sure to pedal for 40 minutes before a lovely breakfast of our Mabel’s eggs, bacon and a tomato. Knowing what was happening later, I brushed my teeth twice this morning too, silly really. Doing my daily weigh-in, I was down another pound, but I will wait till Wednesday next week to record my weight. Who knows, I may have lost another pound by then....

Today I had my first checkup with a French dentist. All went well and I go back in March for a scan to check that he missed nothing.

After that, we went to browse a kitchen shop. The current kitchen is ok, but it is tired and needs changing to accommodate our cooking styles and needs. For example, we need more hob space, two ovens, a salamander grill and something that will suit us for many years to come. We made an appointment for a design consultation on Saturday afternoon, so that we can show the designer what we want. After that, we’ll see.....

We also then drove over to a furniture shop to see about getting an armchair to go with our suite, but you know what it’s like when the sales consultant is too pushy?..... well, we’ll go back to the shop we bought our suite from...

When we got home, I confess that I curled up on the sofa, as it was chilly, until time to cook dinner. Stir fried zucchini, tomato, onion and shredded Brussels sprouts with mixed seafood, in a Thai curry sauce, made with madras curry powder, fresh garlic, Thai fish sauce and coconut milk; I could eat curries every day and I love seafood. No rice as we’re low carbing and it was delicious!

Tomorrow we will finish putting together the greenhouse; it’s so fiddly and today we got the door fixed before the dental appointment, so that leaves the roof Perspex sheets to fix in and the last bits between the roof and walls. Then we can leave the chickens in peace after we put up a fence between their run and the greenhouse and what will be the veggie patch...

Some of our girls today...

The chicken coop and the almost finished greenhouse!

The veggie patch will be the width of the greenhouse and up to just past the green compost bin in this photo...

So, more busy days ahead, less time to sit around or eat aimlessly!

Onederland, I can see you and you’re getting closer....
