Some recycled pounds off … I’m 216.4 this morning. I’m still up from two weeks ago but I’m on track for 1 pound a week loss. Now to keep going … one meal at a time. And 5x a week walking.
Today is a little sad for me. This is the last entry from Steve Siebold’s book … Die Fat or Get Tough: 101 Differences in Thinking Between Fat People and Fit People. I have found Steve firm, to the point and very supportive of those who are ready to lose weight. He has no patience for wishy-washy thinking. His last page of the book is about how many think he is a jerk … but he is being tough on purpose. The first 30 days of any change, it is very important to stick to the rules so that new habits can take hold. And then re-enforcement of your new beliefs.
Just yesterday, a newish friend asked me some tough questions and then quickly apologized. She said that she didn’t want to offend me. I told her … honesty is what makes a great friend so valued. And if you do what you have always done expecting a different outcome … you are setting yourself up for failure. Why would a good friend enable you to do that???
More exerts from Steve #101:
Fat people focus on the how.
Fit people focus on the why.
Fat thinkers imagine the life they desire and often quit before they start because they don’t know how to make it a reality. This leads them to believe they have to know how to do something in order to make it happen.
Fit thinkers know to ask for help if they don’t understand HOW to do something, and go to work on figuring out WHY they should expend the effort.
Fit people are searching for the emotional motivators that will keep them 100% complaint and moving forward when it gets tough. Whatever the motivation, fit people know the secret is identifying what drives you and keeping it in front of you as much as possible.
Emotional motivation is the power tool of the world class thinker.
Your job is to develop a big enough reason WHY to battle the bulge and win the weight loss war.
Critical Thinking Question: Are you aware that it’s your emotional motivators that will determine your success or failure to get fit???
Action Step: Make a list of your five most powerful emotional motivators for getting fit and read them every morning. Stay connected to this list like a scuba diver does to oxygen. If you’re emotional motivation is unclear when the going gets tough, your diet is in danger. Stay focused on why you must get fit and remind yourself every day as if you have no short term memory. And always remember … YOU can do it !!!
My whys. This list is kinda like a Last Will and Testament that would be found … it supersedes any that have come before.
WHY do I want to embark on this road to … changing??? I mean Hubby doesn’t care if I’m fluffy … so WHY do I ???
1. I want to be at peace with myself. I want to trust myself.
2. I want to be at peace with food. I want to enjoy every bite of food I chose to eat.
3. I want off the roller coaster of losing, gaining, losing, gaining.
4. I want one set of clothing that fits every time I reach for something. I want to purchase things that fit at the time of purchase and into the future.
5. I want to feel like ME in my own skin. To be able to exhale ... and breathe !!!
Fate whispers to the warrior, "you cannot withstand the storm."
And the warrior whispers back, "I am the storm."
(borrowed from LIBELULITA)
Just do it … already. No matter what.
*******
Change your mind … and the rest WILL follow.
