Sometimes it is the Small Things That Matter the Most

To have a friend and be a friend Is what makes life worthwhile. Unknown
The gift of friendship is probably the greatest gift anyone can give you. After my husband, Bill, passed away, I was very lonely, and friends at church were a huge support. One Sunday, a friend sat by me so I wouldn’t be alone, and in front of us was a man. My friend introduced me to this man, saying that he had lost his wife a few months before I lost my husband.
Me, just being me, decided to send a Christmas card to this man, knowing that he would also be facing an uncertain holiday without his wife. That was the beginning of a great friendship. After that, when there were church happenings, he would ask if he could pick me up, and I would let him.
Now, some seven years later, this man has become a very close friend, and, before the pandemic, his family has become like a second family to me. His great grandchildren have helped fill a void I have not being able to see my own great granddaughter.
This man, Bob, and I talk on the phone multiple times throughout the day. During this pandemic, when we can’t get out and about very much, it can be really depressing not having anyone to talk to, but I have Bob and it has definitely helped me from being depressed.
So, remember, it's not necessarily the big things that mean the most, but often it is the small things that mean everything!
