Am I Doing It Right.......

I struggle with consistency, do you? Drinking my 12-15 glasses of water daily and exercise 90-120 minutes daily, I feel good about those accomplishments. So why am I struggling where my eating is concerned. What am I missing that I can't stay on my plan. Some days are easier than others to not stray. I try to mix up my selections of food, mostly at lunch and dinner meals. Breakfast is oatmeal, cinnamon, flax seed and a banana mixed into the bowl. I have never been that person who forgets to eat. Each day is a new day to start again, so I have been reading, how do I challenge myself to stick with it and not veer from my plan. Starting over so many times feels defeating. I have not quit and I don't plan on quitting. I show up each day to Sparkpeople and read everyone's encouraging words. I comment on other people's shares, I never post a blog myself until today. I will figure this dilemma out and know that I "am doing it right."

    I like exercise but for me it's ALWAYS the food,
    I can overeat even healthy food.
    To stay on track, I log into Spark first thing every morning (after hopping on the scale in my PJs) and grabbing a mug of coffee. Then I put everything I will eat for the day into the nutrition tracker.
    I even play "what if I eat this and not that"
    I like data and seeing how my choices will affect my nutrition levels is the motivation I need.

    I'm definitely not perfect and when I stray from the plan, I dutifully track it, own it, forget it and move on.
    I have a food scale too since I suffer from portion distortion too

    I am good with about 8 glasses of water--the recommended amount and moderate exercise. Used to be much more when younger--but do what is necessary now and leave it at that. I keep the carbs low---as they induce hunger, so follow keto as my lifestyle for the past two years.

    I do okay with eating some days and struggle more others. Some things that help me are not having snacks in the house, only going in the kitchen at meal times and chewing gum. I need to up my water because I know that would help but when it is cold I want coffee!!

    Sometimes just putting thoughts to paper or online is the key to that conundrum. emoticon emoticon
