Thanks for the great article! :)
The tip about flooring vs carpeting is a good one. I also suggest shades, shutters or blinds rather than curtains & drapes.
At one point I had moved to a region where mold was a huge problem (wet, cool, humid coastal climate w/ wall not central heaters) & we kept spray bottles of a bleach/water solution on hand for bathroom walls & periodically cleared, sprayed & dried the backs of closet walls. Use a fan & wear a mask when spraying - I know our mix was stronger than 20:1 ratio!
There is also an additive for paint that helps to inhibit mildew & mold which is easily stirred in if you are needing to redo the walls. Colors do fade or streak w/ all that bleach so off whites are best.
Hope I never become allergic to my kitties.
Sorry, but if you need to consider keeping your pet outside, you don't need a pet. Pets want and need more.
Constant and consistent cleaning seems to be the only answer...
Thank you. DH took allergy shots for years and is much less affected. Back in the day the spring and autumn seasons used to really get to him. Not so much any more.
Nicely comprehensive. Thank you.
