Mt Katahdin, right to the west of my farm. I see it dominating the western landscape every day.

I live in rural northern Maine on a farm of 70 acres. My farm is home to lots of different animals and gardens, I love roses even though this is not the best place to try to grow them! I enjoy growing my own food in my raised beds and big garden, my berry patches and orchards provide me with lots of fresh fruit in the summer. I hope to retire soon so I can enjoy more time on the farm.

Update, I retired on July 1st 2016, love staying on the farm and getting things done!

My Goals:
I am getting back on track with a more healthy weight, and eating habits. I need to try to sleep more, not sure if that will be possible since I work nights. Last but not least I will to get my organization back in my house and yard!

My Program:
I have been tracking my food since starting in March of 2014, I weigh in once a week and take measurements once a month. I also have been monitoring my blood pressure several times a week. As I progress through SparkCoach program I am staying motivated towards healthy eating and exercise. My Fitbit keeps me on track to getting 10 K steps a day. I am now moving towards other goals working on my house and barn to pick up and get more organized.
I had a little setback in October 2014, I was diagnosed with ITP and put on high dose prednisone, so no weight loss for 3 months, the good news is that I didn't gain weight either! Mid January I was taken off the prednisone and now I am losing weight again!

Personal Information:
Maine is my home

Other Information:
I briefly signed up for SP back in 2011 after reading about SP in a magazine, but never went any further on the website until March of 2014

Thanks for commenting on my WEC food blog. Bet you can tell my cooking is rather Spartan these days. I focus on quality ingredients and enjoy the simplicity.

I would like to visit Maine sometime, as I use to read the newsletter from the Tightwad Mother, Amy Dacyczyn who lived on 7 acres with an old house and attached barn near Leeds. I know the winters are bad there. I grew up on a farm in Illinois and my dad would say about attached barns "Well, it is so cold that they have to have the barn attached because they can't walk out to where it should be." emoticon
