I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and unfortunately the middle pulp as I call it is from the PCOS.

Basically in a nutshell, PCOS causes hormonal imbalances in the endochrine and reproductive systems. It can cause infertility, hypothyroid (or sluggish metabolism), type II diabetes and other issues like too much hair in places you don't need it, hair loss on your head, skin tags, chin hairs, you name it. I struggle with all these on a daily basis and ask anyone with PCOS how they feel and they will most likely tell you that it's quite a self esteem issue and tugs at the hearts of those of us trying to get pregnant.

Not all women with PCOS are heavy. In fact, many are quite thin. If you think you may have symptoms I suggest going to: http://www.soulcysters.net

You can read about the different types and how to get diagnosed and treated. Many women walk around not knowing this is what they are dealing with. Unfortunately not all dr.'s are educated in the diagnosing of this disorder and many women walk around thinking they're fat, just need to lose weight, but seem to eat small portions, exercise everyday and still seem to gain or stay the same weight.

If you are dealing with PCOS please know your not alone! Educate yourself, your dr. and be proactive in learning the needs of your body and treatments. Demand to be heard and have faith that You can and will lose the weight. Be proud of each little small step which will eventually lead to a Healthier YOU!

As of today I have been Eating Clean on and off for a year. With exception to Christmas. I am doing excellent. I did stick with less processed carbs, with lean meat and veggies for my choices.

I continue to eat mainly fish, lean poultry, veggies and fruits. RARELY will I eat any red meat. Christmas is my "FREE DAY" where red meat is concerned because it causes inflammation and I ALREADY have chronic issues due to inflammation.

While I gained extra weight, My bloodsugar has gone from 300's to between 80's and at it's highest 200's two hours after eating if I eat something with carb sensitivity. I have made progress and have plans to focus on lowering it even more.

NOW I'm working on exercise. I just LOATHE exercise., but have started making myself do 30 minutes of cardio 3 times a week with a goal of 5 times a week. I'm planning on reaching the hundred club. I have severe water retention and diabetic neuropathy in my feet. Another goal is to rid myself of weight to help with these issues and get off of the insulin pump altogether.

Here's to a New Season in 2010 with hopes to actually lose weight and get my life back!!

2010 GOALS:

- Purchase a Gym Membership two to three times per week to help me get through the sluggish metabolism and the couch potatoe syndrome I ended up in this summer and winter.

- Hire a registered dietician to help me through the rough food issues due to diabetes and hypothyroid.

- Check out a NPD as well as an Acupuncturist. Weigh Pro's and Con's to Conventional Medicine.

- Message once a week for neuropathy issues

- Follow GI Closely this year

- For my mind and spirit I'm hiring a Christian Counselor to help me get past the issues that have caused me to eat in the first place.

This IS the first time I'm working on ME. This new adventure I'm taking is EXCITING. Maybe I'll finally find out who I REALLY am.

January 2010:
Starting Sparks Body BOOTCAMP
Starting BMI: 43.9
Goal BMI: 21

Body fat (start): 41%
Body fat (goal): 17%

I hope to accomplish a pattern of REGULAR exercise. I lost 18 lbs from Sparks in June and would like to take it to the hundred club this summer. I also would like to be more AWARE of what's going in my mouth. I'm noticing STILL more carbs and fat, though healthy carbs and fat...STILL too much. I look forward to gaining a positive mindset again and losing some more poundage.

NEVER GIVE UP!! NEVER.....Fight, FIGHT, Fight!

My Goals:
To accomplish my dream of becoming Healthy by eating, exercising, re-directing old habits and focusing on a healthy self in order to lesson the symptoms of PCOS, to be able to live a longer life, and keep up with our children someday.

I want to be free from sickness due to obesity!

~ Come up with a good portion plan..... DONE
****Eating 5-6 small meals with protein, complex carb, fruits/veggies, and healthy fats. Using a salad plate and not eating more than 300 cals. per small meal. ((it's harder than you think))

Strength Training 3x's a week

Cardio 3-5 x's a week.

***working on a good balance. Cardio doesn't work alone for me. I'm told women with PCOS do better with Body Composition Training (lifting HEAVY weights). I'm working up to them and am doing a GREAT job weight training right now!

Learn relaxing techniques to push through chronic anxiety.

Remember to rely on

My Program:
Got rid of refined sugars and starches and brougth Whole grains into the house, lean meats and fish as well as veggies and fruits.

Working towards a long lasting exercise regime. Right now I'm extremely loathing this, but I know that in the end I will get used to it and it will become a healthy attitude instead of a "Job".

Working also to De-stress with meditation and prayer. I am an extremely anxious person at times and could worry myself sick to the point I don't sleep.

Strength Training 3 days a week.

Cardio 2 days a week.

Eating 5-6 small meals a day.

Saying AT LEAST 1 positive thing about myself and others each day.

Educate, Educate, Educate myself.

Hi emoticon Popping in to check on you. How are you doing? I'm still a mixed bag! Our baby is doing better emoticon and so is the cat emoticon We still have her in the bathroom, but I think I will let her out tomorrow. So, then today my hubby calls me when I'm mall walking with a friend emoticon to tell me he'd been in an accident and he thought his car was totalled emoticon I'm so glad HE was ok, though. Anyway, what it tells me is stress is a constant...though this is not so big comparatively...I know...but still it's those kinks in the road, you know? So I am working to not let life's ups and downs cause me to eat and get off course. I still had a nice walk this evening, and my overall calories were decent. One step at a time! emoticon

How is your week going? Mine is not as strong this week as last b/c it's just been a bit hectic. My lo has loved being swaddled, but we finally nipped it this week so we are having some not so sleepy nights. Our cat was plugged up for four days then quit eating/drinking so we took her to the vet...she will be home tonight and it could be a long messy night. Oh, ya...lo is running a fever off/on this week...maybe cutting teeth? Anyway...I'm tired and off track some. I am planning to "walk" on my strider while lo is down for his nap and curb my damage and eat healthy tonight. If I maintain this week I'll be pleased! Still working at it, though. I know it will get easier and that when things become habit, life's little nuisances shouldn't derail me as easy. Let's do this!

I started out just walking a couple times a week for probably a month or so, then have slowly been adding to that. This is the first week I feel like it is all coming together. It's not perfect, but I finally feel on track. I don't know. I thought we would start infertility treatments again...at my age I don't have tons of time. However, I can't imagine getting pregnant right now. I couldn't even fit into my maternity clothes not if I tried! I can't afford new ones anyway :-) If you want to chat I am more than open! Hope all works well for you! Start small. Every little thing does add up and over time comes together!

Thank you for the friend add. I've done the same. I'll be praying for you during this time. I think the waiting is the hardest part! I think we will be giving it our last go around March. It's in God's hands. emoticon
