I am in the process of adopting a healthy lifestyle since 2012.

Spring 2016:
I'm on the finish line to completing the PhD in May! This is a stressful time when I catch myself emotionally eating to calm anxiety. I'm gaining a lot of weight again because I'm not being mindful...
I ran the LA marathon, my first one, with help of a running group and it was amazing! Not sure where to take it from here... But if I can accomplish one thing, I can do them all!

Fall 2015:
Newly engaged and finishing my dissertation while working part time -- the next 12 months carry many stressors and underwater rocks. I want to develop strength and balance to glide through them.

I also signed up for my first marathon on February 15, 2016. Now working on converting aspirations into resilience and stamina.

I set my goals based on the seven dimension of wellness:

• Get to 150 lb and 22% body fat
• Exercise x3-4/week
• Eat balanced meals and vitamins daily
• Go to bed early and wake up 6:30-7am

• Find at least 5 good things in every setback
• Stop comparing myself to others
• Take responsibility for thoughts-feelings-behaviors

• Complain no more than 15 min/day
• Show appreciation and love to fiance and mom daily
• Set boundaries with others

• Be grateful for what I have
• Practice mindfulness and meditate daily
• Remember what drives my work

• Complete my PhD by May 30 2016
• Read widely in research
• Continue networking for post-doc during year

• Limit social networking and junk web browsing to 30 min/day
• Set goals weekly and evaluate myself
• Read for pleasure

• Keep my house and workspace clean weekly
• Recycle/compost
• Escape the city at least monthly

Spring 2014:
Back again!

Fall 2013:
Ran the Long Beach Half Marathon. Grad school hit hard and I stopped running or doing pretty much anything...

Summer 2013:
I took a month long break after completing the 10K due to stress from finals and written qual examples. In July I registered for my first half marathon as promised. Now, I have to continue on!

Winter 2013:
It''''s been a year since I began my transition into a healthy lifestyle. Some things became habits, others need more integration. This is my comeback to "make it real".

Summer 2012:
After completing my first 5K (05/20/12), I stopped logging food, thinking that exercise alone will do the trick. It is not so! In time I succumbed to poor eating habits even while running 6 mi/wk. Now I''''m back to re-evaluate myself. I''''ve made some lasting changes to my lifestyle but more needs to be done. It''''s a work in progress!

Spring 2012:
I lost 10lb in 8 weeks of Winter quarter, but stopped exercising and tracking food due to the stress of finals. In April I started the routine again, aiming for another 10lb loss by the end of Spring quarter.
I also signed up for my first 5K, which will happen May 20. I''''m really excited about the changes I''''m making in my life!

Winter 2012 (beginning):
I was 135lb last January. Over the year I gained 35lb. I graduated college, moved in with my boyfriend and started graduate school. Something went wrong and now, for the first time in my life, I''''m bordering on overweight. In addition, in October I had emergency appendectomy which made me reevaluate my health.
This January 2012 I begin a program to get back on track.
