I think the title says it all.

What the title doesn't say is that this is my second round (and a half) committing to Spark. I lost about 20 pounds the first round, but after the disastrous summer and awful last year, I've gained and lost it several times over since then on my own. Now I am close to being back at my heaviest.

I failed the first time b/c life got in the way and I let it get out of control. In the past year and a half my business has dwindled, my parents have both lost their jobs, I've spent all my savings trying to help out and stay afloat, we've lost the house and our housing situation is a nightmare, my relationship has all but ended, and I have found that people who you think are friends really aren't when you need them the most. However, it now seems things are starting to turn around -- business is up, parent's have their jobs back, and I have a new house!

Because, I'm a small business owner, and I typically spend most of my day in front of my desk / computer. Although, with recent developments, I have found myself eating out and being on the road (mostly rush hour traffic) a lot more. Which seems to be making things a bit tough.

I also live a high stressed life style; I'm trying to change that, but it's not easy. Here lately it's seems as if I'm falling into a depression, mostly due to stress, and being unhappy with where I am in life. Again, I'm trying to change that. Depression isn't fun and I don't want it to become a serious issue.

I had a serious back injury at the end of 2008 and which limits me a little, but as long as I'm careful and take it easy when I need to, I'm ok.

Needless to say, exercise is quite "iffy" depending on how I feel. I've been slacking a lot recently, but am trying to work out on a regular basis more. I'm also trying to generally move more -- walking the dog, cleaning the house, and other activities that get me out of the chair.
I can't run or jog (too high impact) but I would like to start the couch-2-5-k program on some level.

I've always been heavy, and now I want to so something about it. My size has never stopped me from anything, and I've never been the "oh I can't do such and such b/c I'm this big" type of whinny person.

My Heaviest: 250
In College: between 220 and 235
Now: between 235 and 245

I just feel that it's time for a change. And it looks like I need all the help I can get!

My Goals:
To be a size 6! (I'll settle for 8 if it looks right on me!)

Short term goals are really more my thing:

*To lose 7-10 pounds a month (or maintain a 5 pound a month loss).
*To lose at least 40 pounds by Mid March
*To be healthy
*To change my lifestyle so I can be happier

My Program:
I don't have a lot of time to be on here, so when I can I'm:

* Calorie counting using the nutrition guide.

*Cooking for myself as much as I can.

*Trying to move more.

* I try to make better overall choices.

*To not beat myself up if I have a bad day or get of track. Overall, the goal is to learn how to eat well without really thinking about it.

*I am contemplating finding some "aids" or diet supplements to help me meet my goals.

Hey, I saw your request for a buddy last week and I thought I reached out to you. My mistake. Anyways, If you ever want to walk Katy Trail let me know. Or if you ever wanted to walk some where closer to home is cool too. Keist Park is good or somewhere else, just let me know. Shan

I saw this on a sparkpage just now and know you will find it good. I think it is a parody of a Dr. Seuss book:

    Don't Quit

When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down,
And you feel like the biggest failure in town.
When you want to give up just because you gave in,
and forget all about being healthy and thin.
So What! You went over your calories a bit,
It's your next move that counts...So don't you quit!
It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change.
It's learning the skills to get back in your range.
It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now.
You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow."
It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal.
You're still gonna make it, just stay in control.
To stumble and fall is not a disgrace,
If you summon the will to get back in the race.
But, often the struggle's, when loosing the grip,
Just throw in the towel and continue to slip.
And learn too late when the damage is done,
that the race wasn't over...they still could have won.
Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow,
but facing each challenge will help you grow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
the silver tint in a cloud of doubt.
When you're pushing to the brink, just refuse to submit,
If you bite it, you write it....But don't you quit!

    Thought for the day.

Don't be discouraged. It's often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock.
Whatever you do, do it for YOU.
    Have a wonderful weekend.
