5/9/16 UPDATE: I haven't been on SparkPeople for about 2 years and my weight has crept back up on me. I am probably back up to 160 lbs or so. This past month I have been binge eating and can't seem to stop. I am back on SparkPeople to blog/journal my emotions and to get back down to a healthy weight. I love the support on this website.

My name is Helen and I am 42 years old. I set out on this journey to lose weight September 1st of 2009. I began at 209 lbs and I am 5'2" tall.

I have always battled my weight. In high school I hung out around 150 lbs which always had people referring to me as "chubby". I joined the Air Force after school and for 4 years maintained my weight from 135-140 lbs- the maximum for my height. I got married, had kids, and for about 13 years stayed pretty much between 175-209.

At the age of 36, I was at a point where I was living a life in constant pain from my feet, knees, and especially my back. I could only sleep 1-2 hours at a time. Every morning I was waking up barely able to move because my back was stiff and very tight. And just as soon as my feet hit the floor, I was in severe pain from plantar fasciitis. I could not climb stairs or squat down because of my knees. I had reached my breaking point as I could not fathom living like this any longer. I thought: "What will life be like for me at 46? 56?"

Beginning September 1st, 2009, I stayed consistant with eating healthy and exercising and quickly lost 67 lbs in about 9 months.

For the next 3 years I battled binge eatng with a vengence. I would get down to 135 lbs, then start binging for days and weeks and sometimes months at a time until I am back up to 155 or so. I could not seem to find a balance.

In June of 2012 my husband had the bright idea of signing us up for a family CrossFit gym membership. I was SO mad at him. We have access to two very nice FREE gyms on the military base and I could not fathom spending the money on a gym membership.

Wow.... Something happened after about 8 weeks of begrudgingly attending CrossFit off and on. I started to LIKE it.... Here I was giving a half hearted effort and I could see myself getting stronger. What would happen if I gave it 100%??? I started to absolutely LOVE it! It has become a passion.... an addicition.... an obsession.

I still battle binge eating and can't seem to get myself down to my goal weight of 125 with a maintenance range of 125-130. Since starting CrossFit, I initially got down to 127 at my lowest, but have mostly been maintaining between 135 and 140. "Those last 10 lbs".... Grrrr......

Would love to add as many SparkFriends as I can! I get so much support from this website and I would love to give some out. SparkPeople has been life changing for me. Feel free to add me as a friend and I will reciprocate and we can support each other.

My Goals:
I am currently trying to lose "those last 10 lbs".

My Program:
I try to do some sort of workout in the morning. 2-3 days a week I run 4 miles and if I am feeling up to it I will use the elliptical or bicycle at the gym the other weekday mornings.

I go to CrossFit Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights. Saturday mornings I attend CrossFit and will do a long run if the morning CrossFit workout wasn't too intense.

    Encouragement from the CML team
This week's lyrics are from a song that touched my life deeply. When I experience LOVE from above it cannot help but change my perspective on everything.

    You Are Loved
    by Hope's Call
    Album: Live to Love
    by Hope's Call

    Verse 1:
Have you ever felt the Father's love
As He holds you in His arms
When you start to say I'm sorry
He says you've done nothing wrong
Have you failed to meet the standards
That you thought you should attain
Only to hear Him call your name, saying

You are loved beyond your failures
You are loved beyond your past
    The hope that you've imagined
    Is now reality at last
You are loved with no conditions
You are loved with no remorse
    The scars of your forgiveness
    Are engraved upon the Lord
    You are loved

    Verse 2:
Have you seen your life be torn apart
By things you could not help
Until you finally reached the point
Where you could only blame yourself
Have you laid your head to sleep
And think you'll always be alone
Then awaken to His voice calling you home, He says

May the truth of these lyrics renew you this week.

Thank you for the foam roller. It is so nice to hear from you. A torn meniscus is exactlly what he is looking for in the MRI. mI just hope whatever he finds is nothing more than some serious PT. Off to fight two of my kids over homework.

I will keep you posted. emoticon

From CML team These lyrics from Tenth Avenue North have spoken to me especially when I am struggling. I hope they minister to you.

    I’m Tired I’m worn
    My heart is heavy
    From the work it takes
    To keep on breathing
    I’ve made mistakes
    I’ve let my hope fail
    My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world

And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

    Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
    That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
    Cause I’m worn

I know I need to lift my eyes up
    But I'm too weak
    Life just won’t let up
And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

    Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
    That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
    Cause I’m worn

    My prayers are wearing thin
    Yeah, I’m worn
    Even before the day begins
    Yeah, I’m worn
I’ve lost my will to fight
    I’m worn
So, heaven come and flood my eyes

    Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
    That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause all that’s dead inside will be reborn

    Though I’m worn
    Yeah I’m worn

Please stop by the team and get involved. And please continue to pray for CyclingSandy and her husband.

Tomorrow is Easter - Jesus is Risen! Here are the lyrics of a new song by Kari Jobe "Forever" that expresses our hope in Jesus

The moon and stars they wept
    The morning sun was dead
The Savior of the world was fallen
    His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse was broken

    One final breath He gave
    As Heaven looked away
The Son of God was laid in darkness
    A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken

    The ground began to shake
    The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated

    Forever, He is glorified
    Forever, He is lifted high
    Forever, He is risen
    He is alive
    He is alive
