10% Walking Challenge Team
Sunday, January 18, 2009
As stated in my last blog, I have lost my focus since Christmas Day. And of course, I have gained weight since then...
One of the things I had stopped doing was focussing on my walking. I had been steadily increasing my steps each week and I was increasing my weightloss too when I achieved the walking goals.
To restart my focus, and keep it focussed, and also to help others, I have started a new team call 10% Walking Challenge.
How it works...
Week 1 - Put your pedometer on first thing in the morning and completely forget about it until you are ready to go to bed. Log your steps for the day ...
Week 2 - Add up your steps from the last week and divide them by 7 - this will give you your average step count per day. Once you have this step count multiply it by 10% and add that total to your daily average to get your challenge steps for the following week:
eg. I walk an average of 10,000 steps per day in the first week, 10% of this is 1000 steps, my challenge for week 2 is 11,000 steps per day on average.
In week 2, I walk an average of 11,200 steps to beat my challenge, 10% of this is 1120 steps, so my challenge for week 3 is 12320 steps per day on average.
A 10% increase in your walking/exercising ability each week is the best/healthiest way to increase your energy levels and your muscle tone according to the experts.
Doing it this way also takes into account that you will have a bad week every now and then and you can work your way back up again from there without killing yourself or doing harm :)
If you would like to join me, please come over to the team and sign up :)
