"Maintaining" ok, but having a hard time getting motivated again...

At the beginning of last month, I started not feeling all that well. I thought that it may have been the season change effecting my body somehow, but after talking with some Spark Friends, I realized that I was just pushing for weight loss too hard. I had started a daily workout routine and had cut my calories even further. It was suggested that I go into "maintenance" mode for a while; up my calories to match my activities, and see how I feel. I decided to give it a try for about a month. I DID start feeling better within 2 days and was keeping my weight stable at between 192 & 195 - about half way to my end goal. Well, that "maintenance month" was over three weeks ago. I've tried to start back into "weight loss" mode, but I just can't get myself motivated again. I'll do good for a day, track my calories, work out, read articles, all the fun stuff that I've come to love about the SP lifestyle, but the next day I get busy and blow it off. The next day too. All of a sudden it's been 3 or 4 days since I've payed attention. I like the way that I'm starting to look, but I want to love the way I look, and I'm not going to get there in "maintenance" mode. So... here's my pledge to myself. If I publicize it, I'll be more apt to follow through. Starting tomorrow morning, I'm going back into "weight loss" mode. I'm going to cut my daily caloric intake by 800-1000. I'm not going to go crazy with the workouts, but I will commit to 10 minutes/day. I know that once I start, 10 minutes will turn into 20, and 20 will turn into 30, etc. It's the "getting started" part that's hard. If I keep it in my head that it's only 10 minutes, I'll do it (even if it turns out to be an hour). I'd really like to get to 180 lbs by the Christmas/New Year break, about 2 lbs/week. That will be a full 50 lbs less than last year during that same week and hopefully I won't look like the side of a house in the Holiday pictures this year :-)

    I doubt at 192-195 you'll look like the "side of a house". Just keep in mind not to put your body into starvation mode...all that hard work will leave you tired and the food that you do consume being stored as fat as a body conservation measure.

    2lbs a week is a healthy target. That's about what I aim for. I don't know if it will work for you long term, but at least to get the ball rolling, it might be worthwhile jumping on to the "Daily Stand-Up" thread in the Drop20by2010 forums. We check in with each other every day to try and help with the accountability.
