Am I In Control

Six years ago I spent five weeks in the hospital in Gainesville FL diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. I had blood clots on my heart, in my left leg, and a horribly diseased gall bladder. To make a long story short they debated if they should put me on a heart transplant list if I didn't improve. I belonged to a wonderful, praying church in Lake City FL and had many Christian friends who prayed for me every day. I also had a fabulous team of doctors under the guidance of my son's best friend who was a doctor in that hospital. He spent every day of my hospitalization with me and making sure he knew exactly what was going on. Do I believe in miracles~~my life is one. Do I believe in properly getting medical help~~absolutely.
In the past five years I have quite a list of medications that I take which include three heart meds, a blood thinner, diuretic, aspirin, and a combo mineral therapy of mag.oxide and niacin. A total of 14 pills a day which are monitored and checked all the time. I have a great team of doctors and a wonderful Savior that has shown me that with all these medical marvels I have to do my part. So as of Jan, 2010 I reached out and started doing my part~~strictly tracking my food intake and exercise. I have faithfully followed my sodium intake and increased my exercise from a slow 10 minutes twice a day to average about 40-45 minutes of cardio walking~~indoors on my gazelle. And all these wonderful "tools" are provided by Sparks~~along with my teams and fabulous friends
Am I in control. YES!! Finally!!! It has taken me 6 years but the way I feel right now and the joy I see in my family is worth every single thing I thought I was sacrificing. It takes commitment and I know I am far from perfect but with 72 pounds gone I am going for my goal of 175 and a healthy heart and body comes along with that.
