Just when I thought it would never happen, it DID!!

ok - so if you've been reading any of my recent blogs you know that I joined BLC15 on January 5th and FINALLY have made a habit of ST. I've been on this journey since April of 2008 and lost most of my weight by a combination of watching my food intake and walking - walking a LOT! Like 50 to 60 miles a week. But I got to a point where no matter how much I walked the scales were stuck - at right around 160 pounds. I knew I should be doing ST, but I didn't like it and just couldn't make myself do it.

I 'found' SP in January of 2010 but didn't begin using it actively until August 2010. Early on I found a group of Sparkfriends who really helped me on my journey - my regular contact with them kept weight loss in the front of my mind. And since we have a lot in common (all being in the 'over 50' group) I felt as if I'd made new friends. With their help for only the second time in my entire adult life I managed not to gain over the holidays - in fact I lost a bit.

I joined BLC15 because one of the things I saw as their goals is ST - the goal was to do 5 of the 10 minute ST videos a week. I hoped that I'd do for my team what I hadn't done for myself - DO ST!

I got that and SO MUCH MORE from my team! Its been over 20 years since I weighed under 150 and then it was only for a few months. And for the first time I feel confident that because of the lifestyle changes I've made with Sparkpeople I'll be able to MAINTAIN my weight loss this time!

THANK YOU Sparkpeople, BLC15, and all my SparkFriends!! I'm one HAPPY Georgia Girl today!!

emoticon Congrats on reaching that mark and on your success with the BLC. I tell you what, don't mess with the 50 and over! On my BLC team the 50 and over crowd kicks our young butts when it comes to fitness!

YES! I have to say I'm currently addicted to ST. I loved it hard when I couldn't run because it was something I COULD do, something where I saw improvements every week with the amount I lifted, how many pushups I could do, etc. I saw my body getting stronger, and that meant so much. I kept telling myself, "I have to hope that you can get runner's legs without running" and then I'd do some more squats and calf raises.

Great job on not giving up and finding just what you needed to reach the goals you set for yourself!

Congrats to you!!!!! Wow, that is some serious walking there. Walking does the body good, and so does strength training. It feels good when the scale is your friend.

    Enjoy, enjoy.

    Keep moving.
