Stress Tests, Softball and Chores!!

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Mixed day today:

1. My 21 year old son started a 40 hour to 100 hour a week job as an IT guy in the city close to us!! Woo-Hoo!!! I love it when my kids get jobs!!

2. My husband's cardio stress test came back FANTASTIC!!! Woo-Hoo!! He has been doing such a good job of exercising and eating right since his heart attack and triple bypass!!

3. I came home to the kids' chores not being done and my hubby being at softball. Woo-Hoo!! I didn't get angry about it, but just told everyone to get at it while I changed.

4. I did 46 minutes of elliptical and then about 20 minutes of strength training!! Woo-Hoo!!!

And tomorrow.... We take my daughter and her boyfriend to the local crisis pregnancy center for their first counseling appointment. I think the boyfriend is now convinced that we are not going to kill him. (It was a thought!) However, I am still sad.... So sad about how my daughter's life has changed. I so enjoyed the fun I had from my senior year until 26 years old, when I got married!! I wanted that for her. And... selfishly, I wanted to play with her, too.

I was reminded at church on Sunday that God is NOT surprised!! He is a God of second chances who loves His people and He is not surprised when His people make mistakes and struggle. It was a comfort to me.

God is not surprised, but I am still in shock!! Good thing I'm NOT God, huh?!

Thanks for listening!!!

Oh, Kate, BLESS your heart! I just went to read some of your blogs, and I'm SO sorry I haven't responded to this sooner. I'm SO proud of your response to your sweetheart! I know it grieves a mother's heart, but the LORD is so, so merciful to us in every stage of our lives--PRAISE His Name! {{{{{real big hugs}}}}} and **if** you ever want to talk, I'm here! Love and prayers, Susan

My daughter also got pregnant early, it was hard. On the flip side she is a great mom and now has 3 beautiful boys and is still married to the man and happy. Yes they miss out on the early time but take comfort, she will be done and have her life to herself again while still young... she will have her time to play.

    Great job on the exercise!

Hope your IT guy eats better than most computer nerds emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon (I'm assuming here)...they aren't kidding about the 100-hour weeks!

I'm hoping this challenge will help ME get back on track with my exercise and eating right after MY triple bypass. Wish I had a loving wife to cook for me! emoticon

KIDS! ya gotta love 'em...even when they change your hair from dark to white!

You did GREAT with your exercise! emoticon

It IS unsettling when our kids don't continue into adulthood with how we raised them emoticon . But, as you know, God isn't surprised. He KNOWS what we are going to do before we do it, and He is right there holding our hand or carrying us (I LOVE the Footprints In the Sand tale) as we go through all our "whatevers."

emoticon You handled your day very well. emoticon
I think this qualifies as a emoticon day!

She will have fun too... just at a different time in a different way. And how lucky she is that you are being so supportive of them! She'll be grateful for that too, if not now then eventually.
    And that's worth another

Great day, all around. We may not know His plan, but if we're listening carefully, the joy is AMAZING! Indulge in the joy of this time, as it is intended and first grandchildren only come around ONCE in a lifetime!

Like you said: first of all... emoticon

Secondly, I blame Murphy and his silly laws. A friend of mine has raised two girls with pretty good heads on their shoulders, except when daughter #2 basically scraped by to finish school, then started job training at a renowned hotel in Berlin, where she met a guy, moved in with him and 'suddenly' found herself pregnant... only goes to show that even antibabysocks don't work all the time (different story... I love it when people accidentally combine two things, heehee). Anyway, I am glad you're holding on to your Zen and finding comfort in all the right places. Sometimes, the most incredible miracles come out of the most unexpected situations.
