I know I'm getting old but...

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

What do 16-17yr olds (They were driving) get out of yelling rude and derogatory comments out their car window at a modestly dressed, ordinary looking 60 yr old woman, and hassling her by following her down the street. Their little iphones were out so I guess I'll be some joke on youtube tonight.

I'm getting on a bit - I'm not trying to pretend I'm a 'babe' by dressing like a teen.
I weigh more than 112lbs - I've had 4 children and lived a bit.
I wear glasses - So???? These things I know, I don't need to be told!

I don't remember cruising around picking on mothers and the elderly. I talked to my own 'kids' (now mid 20s) tonight and they said it wasn't something they did in their teens either.

Perhaps times have changed but there seems to be a nasty streak to do with not conforming to some sort of airbrushed media 'honey' whatever your age.

Whatever's wrong with ageing gracefully, looking pleasant, smart and tasteful?

And why are some of these kids so bored/disenchanted/plain rude that their 'kicks' are driving around, being lewd and picking on people?

There - rant over - but in fact I felt quite humiliated and saddened for the way some strands of 'society' (hah!) are going.

I hate to say this, but they learn all this from their parents! I cannot tell you how many people I pass everywhere I go who are rude, spiteful, and just plain out miserable! I had a couple of college kids flick me a bird and yelling at me because I was driving the speed limit! Oh, I'm 24!

I've read that people put people down to make themselves feel better about themselves. They must have major issues to do what they did.
It was good for you to get this experience out in writing.

Don't take it personally. It was their bad choices, not about you. I have been known to write down the license plate # of people who are acting poorly. (One person changed a baby's diaper and was going to leave the diaper in the parking lot but saw me writing down the license # and took a few extra steps to put it in a trash can. ) These days you need to be careful though as you don't know who has a gun and brain cells being affected by drugs.

I always say the old quote " As ye sow, so shall ye reap, tenfold", don't know whether that is the exact saying, but you get my drift, and it will come back to them sometime in the future. As a Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator I get to hear of some very strange things that people 'get up to' in the name of FUN. If you had confronted these kids ( not that I encourage it ) you would probably find that 'they were bored' or 'well so and so was doing it so I did the same'. Unfortunately they just don't think or care how it affects others & in some cases the parents couldn't give a toss even when the anti social behaviour of their kids threaten to lose them their home.
Try not to dwell on this too much, they are just not worth it.

THOSE BOYS DEFINITELY NEED A LESSON IN RESPECT. THEY ALSO NEED SOME WORTHWHILE ACTIVITIES TO OCCUPY THEIR TIME. AND HOW ABOUT THEIR PARENTS? PERHAPS THEY NEED A LESSON IN PARENTING.
I'M SORRY YOU HAD THIS HAPPEN TO YOU. PRAYING THOSE BOYS GET SOME LIFE LESSONS BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE,

    YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!

It sounds like you raised your kids right and their parents just have no clue or cant be bothered. We never did anything like that, and they just have no manners!

There is nothing wrong with growing old gracefully! I can just imagine what they would have said to some of the patients that are in the rehab wing with my grandmother lol! not to mention one of her neighbors is a feisty man that would have probably tried to kick their butts!

Just think karma can be so cruel, they will gets theirs!

The ONLY ones who should be feeling humiliated are those hoodlums. Give me a break! They need to get jobs or imaginations so that they have something more creative and positive to do with their time!

I once got "Moooed" at by a teenage boy who was with a girl larger than me! THAT was confusing! LOL! Don't give this foolishness another thought!

I have a 16 year old son, and if I was ever told or saw him doing this I'd kick his butt... his friends included!!! I don't know what is wrong with some of these kids. I know my son isn't perfect, but I do know he has respect for his elders and he KNOWS his momma would thump him a good one if he acted any other way than with respect.

Keep your chin up friend, and know it wasn't you, it was just kids being immature and very tasteless, and down right tacky!
