No More Foolin' Around - April Goals

Sunday, April 01, 2012

Dear Blog,

How I've missed thee. I didn't think that I would miss you; in fact, I hadn't realized that I did miss you until I sat down at my computer to set my goals for the month of April. Over the past several months I have come to realize that I really do need to put these goals in writing, out in the open for all to see.

As the month of April begins, I am 13 weeks and 3 days away from my due date with baby number 3, a baby boy. At this point, I am up nearly 40 lbs., and I can already feel my energy levels dropping as I enter my third trimester. Realizing that it is going to take every fiber in my being to stay on track and NOT gain what seems to be my obligatory 70 pregnancy pounds, I decided to submerge myself into Sparking once again. Specifically, I sought out my team mates from M2W. I hold the team challenges generated by this amazing group of women responsible for the loss of the 70lbs., in less than a year, that I gained with my last pregnancy. My only hope of keeping the weight gain for the next 13ish weeks to a minimum is to jump back into the challenge, feet first.

So, what do I hope to accomplish in the month of April, aside from NOT gaining a ton of weight??

1. Walk, walk, walk! I want to keep logging the miles that I've been logging all along, a minimum of 15 miles per week.

2. Strength training, particularly upper body. I NEED to do this, at least 4x a week. Lucky me, I'm in a wedding the end of August, less than 2 months after my due date. I already have my strapless dress hanging in my closet. If I can keep my upper body from getting any larger, then I should still be able to fit into my dress. The empire waist can hide everything from the b**bs down. emoticon

3. Freggies!! I need more. I just haven't be craving them (can I blame my eating habits on cravings, or am I just using this as an excuse...). Anyway, I am aiming for a minimum of 5 servings a day.

4. My non-fitness related April goal is to reclaim the spare room (aka my kids' room, which they don't really use because they both huddle in our bed) from the laundry monster that has swallowed it. Laundry gets washed, but never seems to get folded, or put away. I find myself spending countless minutes digging through the pile on my son's bed, looking for that one elusive pair of maternity jeans that actually fit me at this point. I am tired of wasting time is this manner. Not only that, but my son actually said something about wanting to sleep in his own bed the other day. I was completely dumbfounded, and unable to accommodate him since it was uber-late and there was no way I was going to even think about relocating said pile of laundry at that point.

Well, I guess this is it. My goals are set. Bring in on M2W Elite Challenge!! Bring it on April!!

Stop reading right now and go fold some laundry! emoticon I'm not serious, of course, but being the restless sleeper that I am, I think I would do just about anything to keep kids out of my bed! And I'm sure you could use some quality sleep right about now. emoticon
I'm glad that you're getting more active on SP again. I hope the challenges will be very helpful. I've already been impressed by how active you've been through your pregnancy. Keep it up and that baby weight will drop right off! I'm sure you'll be beautiful in that dress in August!

Meg, you are WAY TOO AWESOME!! I'm not doing M2W anymore, but I am cheering you on. You were very instrumental in helping me get going.

I'll be by later this week to help get that laundry done, folded and put away. (And if you're like my family, there's probably plenty of winter stuff that won't fit again, so I'll help you get it to Goodwill.) emoticon

Welcome back Meg! 13 weeks? Holy Cow where did the time go? I know it is still 3 months away but when you say it in weeks that is nothing.

As my sister commented on Facebook the other day "Mount Washmore" is a never ending battle. I am lucky if I ever get the laundry out of the baskets before they are needed again to carry a load down to the machine.
