May, May, May

Monday, April 30, 2012

What do I hope to accomplish in May? I've been pondering this question for a little while, trying to decide what kind of goals to set for myself as my waistline expands and expands and my energy levels drop and drop.

I tell ya, this is by far my most difficult pregnancy. Being this BIG and trying to keep up with an almost 5 year old and an 18 month old is quite tiring. The thought of setting fitness goals alone is tiring, lol. I had signed up for the SP 'Spring into Shape' challenge, but decided against it figuring that some of the required videos are probably core based. Sorry, but there aren't any crunches happening in this house for a while...

Anyway, here goes with some (hopefully) attainable goals for the month of May:

1. Track my food and stay within my recommended calorie range at least 4 days a week. I know I should aim higher, but I work so hard at this when I'm not pregnant, I feel like I deserve at least a bit of a break. But, on the other hand, if I did better at this while pregnant, I wouldn't have to work so hard after pregnancy... Kind of a catch 22 I guess.

2. Walk 12-15 miles per week.

3. Limit my meat-containing meals. I had been following a vegetarian diet (pescatarian actually, but my hubby doesn't eat seafood, so it was a rare treat if I had any) for about 2 months prior to getting pregnant, dropped the remainder of my baby weight form my last pregnancy, and felt amazing. Then, the baby started craving meat. I've gotten to the point where I don't really trust commercially produced/prepared meat, but do enjoy purchasing fresh and local meats at the farmer's market here in town.

4. Strength training, 4x a week, simple as that.

Wish me luck!

Impressive! I didn't even think about fitness or calories when I was pregnant (although I was I had). Keep up the good work - baby will be here before you know it!

I think you are doing amazing! It's hard enough being pregnant, but add in taking care of 2 little ones as well and I have no doubt it's exhausting. Great job on trying to be as active as possible. Such an inspiration!

Man you are a motivated preggo lady-love it! Your goals sound wonderful and I know you can do it.
Enjoy these last weeks cause you'll be running around so much more than ever before when baby#3 arrives.
I agree about the meat. I do not eat any meat from the store. My hubby is a hunter so we eat elk(sooooo tasty) and deer. He also fishes local rivers that I trust to eat the fish out of. Plus we raise our own chickens and butcher a few every now and then and they give us eggs everyday.
    I'm wishing you luck...

I think your goals are great! You are setting yourself up for success by being realistic, and that's a good thing!
My last pregnancy was the worst..I was over weight as well, and got pregnant only a few months after my 3rd was born. It was not fun! LOL
Take care of that baby :)

I remember what it was like to be pregnant the second time around and chasing around after a toddler. It was absolutely exhausting. And you've got two little ones to take care of. So I totally understand how tough it must feel sometimes.

Still, I think it's awesome that you're logging onto SP, setting goals, and working toward achieving them. Honestly, when I was pregnant, I barely logged on and as a result, gained more weight than I should have. So good for you for being so mindful about it.

May is going to be a great month for you -- I know it is!

It is hard when the other 2 are young...all you can think about is a nap and they won't sit still for 2 minutes...I feel your pain...you are doing AWESOME though...I threw my eating right out the window and it was bad afterward...so keep up the good work.... emoticon

I am very impressed. When I was pregnant I didn't even try to have any fitness goals. So, you are already one ahead of me. I think they are totally doable and agree with Janice to listen to your body...ok, if it is craving double fudge every hour you may want to tell it to "shut up!" LOL.

    Good luck beautiful.

I think that you understand the ins and outs of the healthy lifestyle thing so well that you'll lose the pregnancy weight rather quickly this time around. You are SO active. Besides, you might be too busy to eat once #3 arrives. emoticon
