Who turned on the bright light?

Thursday, May 17, 2012

Suddenly I feel like there's a spotlight on me. I was apparently named SP's Motivator of the Day and people are paying attention to my dusty corner of SP. I HAVE been checking in on some of you out there, following your journey and giving encouragement where I can. I've not been doing enough for myself though.

The truth is I've been thinking that I need to write a post admitting I've put on some weight and it's all because I'm not staying committed enough and focused enough. I'm continuing to eat quality real food, mostly vegan. I'm pleased with that! But, I've been eating too much of it! On top of that, I've been lazy and not exercising enough. It's not enough for me to just eat good foods if the rest isn't kept in balance as well. Let me be your cautionary tale.

The past couple weeks I've been getting back into walking/jogging and keeping my portions and snacking under control. The spotlight reveals me having faltered, but not having given up. Plus, it shows me taking steps to correct where I've gone off course. This is too important to mess up, too important to slack on. I believe we can all do this. It isn't insurmountable. One step at a time and when we fall down, get back up and get started again.

Thank you to each and every one of you. I may have been the Motivator of the Day, but it's all of you who motivate me. We're not alone and we can do it.

You helped me, by slipping up. Your validation of your journey kept me here, trolling the blogs looking for my motivation. I searched out every blog where the person slipped up and found the guts to say OOPS! It made me feel connected, where I used to feel so left out. Sparkpeople is not just about success , it is about trying. It is about doing., and I also found that it is also about trying to do. I was trying to do, and failing strong. Each blog gave me something to hold on to, ponder, and hope for. Thank you for your stepping stone of a blog. I lost my motivation over the holidays, and by New Years, I was lost- without any chance of finding motivation on my own. That is where I WAS. Thanks to ALL of the bloggers, that is not where I am today. Today, I have a spark.

Don't fret! You will find your balance again. I think people mistakenly think that because someone has lost a large amount of weight that it's no longer a struggle for them. We know that isn't true. It's very hard to find that balance. I have had weeks where I put a pound back on from eating too much or eating out. The exercise has always been a constant for me, but I still struggle almost daily with food. You are human, and not expected to be perfect. I have always looked up to you and thought you were awesome! Keep moving and take it day by day. It's all we can do. Keep sparking too! I miss you when I don't see you around as much! :)

emoticon You so deserve it Duane. I have been on and off SP over the past few years, and it's seeing people like you, still walking the walk and talking the talk that inspire people like me to come back, and pick up where we left off.

You have taken the time to offer encouragement to others, and it has been much appreciated. Now it is our turn to return the favor.

Good on you for being honest with us and more importantly yourself. Once you start increasing the exercise, you'll find it helps control your apetite, something you probably already know. I'm learning again to enjoy good food and to nourish and respect my body.

You'll be back in top form in no time!

We are all prone to slip and go backwards at times, but You will get back on track , You know yourself better than any one else and you know that you can reach your goals. Just do not give up that is where I have been for about 18 years, but because of Spark people , I am now encouraged, and motivated to be a healthier me, and that means taking weight off and being more physically active. Thank you for what you have done to encourage and help us all. Each one has there own mountains to climb, just do not give up . Together we can all make it. emoticon emoticon emoticon
