Finally finished Quilting a friend's quilt top!

Thursday, August 02, 2012

I am so happy that I finished a project I said I would do for a friend without looking at what I was going to do. I will not make that mistake again. She found a quilt top her mother had made years ago and wanted it quilted. I did it and think I did a pretty good job on it. It looks so much better now that it is finished. Yeah for me!!
The second picture shows the back of the quilt and the actual quilting I did. It only took 78 hours to do this.

Great job!! A friend asked me to put together a quilt with her grandmother's friendship blocks. They were made in the 30's. First big challenge was getting out the moth ball smell without shrinking the blocks. Then trying to find the right "vintage" look mataerial to tie ithem all together. Then there was an uneven number of 15" blocks so had to figure out how to place them.. It came out fine and my friend gave it to her mother for Christmas. But it was a challenge!

My mother used to quilt and I helped her cut out pieces, sew them together and quilt but my stitches never looked as good as hers. She had a quilting frame.
    Good job.

It is beautiful. You are so talented. But I think you are right about making sure you know what you are getting yourself into. emoticon

You did an emoticon job, Linda Kay! This is beautiful and so quick...I'm so new and slow it would take me 78 WEEKS to make it and not nearly as good as you! I have been going to ask if you do your own machine quilting and see that you do! I had one done at the quilt shop I used to work at for just a few months but decided that I can't do that all the time...You did a gorgeous job all around, and I SO wish we lived closer together so I could learn from you.

God Bless you my dear, dear friend!!!!! emoticon
