Do or die-tryin' is my plan

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

I'm doing something that is extremely difficult for me: trying to break free of the 2 decades of physical therapy, trading it in for exercising at the Y.

Is it possible? Hard to tell. But my activity level is what HAS to increase for me to lose weight. So I've got a plan that rather intimidates me even as it strengthens my resolve. One Last Shot. Do or die tryin'. It is important. Have gone through an hour introduction, creating a really low-level exercise plan for the gym, and will be going to some classes that can be modified for people with physical issues. Sort of a safe exercise environment! This Friday will be my first time going to the chair yoga class; since they gear it to people and needs, the fitness person felt it will be the best resource for me.

To just get there and do 10-15 minutes of gentle use of the machines and 2-lb weights for the few things I can do.

Attend the Chair yoga class and 2 others similar to it, diffeent days and times, but also adaptable.

See how this FitLinxx can possibly be useful to someone of such low capacity to move as I am... (?)

Increase the at-home stretch program AND number of hot showers.
Am doing this to ease the fibromyalgia symptoms (already reacting to just the first attempt...).

Work up to Ti Chi.

When able to walk enough, get on that track and start walking again.... but this time: seriously on a track instead of neighborhood or hall walking!! Gotta rack up that step count!

Praying that you can do this Sam. Also got fingers and toes crossed for you too anad seeing good vibes your way. I have a friend with fibromyalgia and she told me that as long as she keeps moving even though it hurts, she can manage. She did take water aerobics but because the pool was not always the same temperature, she had to quit that class. When the water was warm, she did good but couldn't deal with the cool water.
