Sneakers that FIT! wow!

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

For years I've tried to find sneakers aka athletic shoes that fit, are comfortable.
Last week I ordered some via a catalog and... today they arrived.
They fit.
They don't HURT by rubbing the back of my leg or hit the top (ok, so I have to do some creative lacing to make the tongue stick up in the air 2 notches from the top of the lacing, but! it works!
Most pleasantly, too: They are light in weight.

Which means!?

I can now go into the Y and do things that require 'athletic shoes, no-street-shoes-allowed' adherance. YAY!!!

Does anyone else have problems with these athletic shoes aka sneakers that are mostly so high that surely they're made for tall people only??

Glad you got a good deal on a pair of athletic shoes that sound right for you! Back when I was doing step aerobics, I loved the Avia shoes -- but they probably would have had that problem you describe of lacing up too high on the front and rubbing on your achilles tendon. Great that you found what you needed online and that they were a good fit for you!

    Thanks ladies!
The sneaks I got are New Balance 940 'running shoes'.
They are good for stability (will that help ME? lol) and support. Sounded so right in the descriptions I read... and ... seems to be just right.
Got them at less than half the recommended price using percentage coupon at OneStopPlus, combined with a sale price. So no I didn't spend $119. Only $59!

Sam, so happy you found shoes that fit your feet! Worth their weight in gold!
Yes, finding a shoe with good support is hard for me also. I was a NIKE girl but am more a Shape Up girl now. My shapes Ups do not have enough arch support so I do add orthotics. I know research disproves Sketcher claims about what the shoe will do but, I find it works well for how I walk and allows me to take a fuller step using the heel to toe roll. I tend to walk flat footed in my old Nikes.
So glad you found a shoe that works for you. I am interested in hearing how the shoes function in your workouts.
Happy Feet to you! No emoticon for that! emoticon

I have trouble getting hiking shoes to not fit too snug around the area just before the toes. I usually don't have trouble with sneakers, tho. Have a great day.

Thanks for posting this. I have struggled with my shoes forever. It never occurred to me that that could be the problem.

I will have to take a closer look. What kind did you order?
