Home Again

Sunday, September 23, 2012

I have had a very busy time since I last posted a blog. We re-modeled our bedroom (painted, new floor, new closet, new furniture, etc) and are almost completely through--just need to varnish (whatever) the doors (bedroom door, bathroom door, closet doors), find/make scarfs for my dresser and his chester drawers, and the other little things to completely "finish" a room.

The last week of August, David (son) brought Molly (his boxer) to us as his job was sending him to San Diego, CA to work for a while and of course we said yes, we would dog-sit. Now Molly is a a good dog but just happened to be in "heat" so to the vet we went and now she is now an "it" so we don't have to worry about that anymore. lol

Then, 9/14 David, Ashley (dh) and I went on a vacation to Helen, GA and Gatlingburg and Pigeon Forge, TN. I had never been and just wanted to go somewhere different and not being ugly, did not really want to deal with little ones or "I want's" the whole time. The past year was not a really good one for me as all the drama, fear, uncertainty connected with daddy--how to handle what all my siblings and I had to deal with. I had told siblings when things got settled my family was going on a vacation though when I said it, I was not expecting it to be this soon--expected it to be a couple more years down the road. We did have a super time, doing when, where, how we wanted. Stayed in a lovely cabin Sunday - Friday outside Gatlingburg, got in a hot tub and a jucuzzi (both a first experience for me) and really enjoyed that jucuzzi but was not impressed with the hot tub. lol We did not go to Dollywood but didn't really want to go there but did see the Acquarium and Cades Cove. Visited several quilting shops and stores. I am so blessed as Ashley and David were ok with my spending all the time I wanted in these establishments and never hurried me up (as most men will do). Ashley did drive some going to Helen but then he let David take over the driving chores the rest of the trip. David did a super job and didn't scare us toooo bad. I really appreciated that he didn't mind slowing down on those mountain roads. It did rain Monday and Tuesday but the rest was beautiful weather--not tooo hot, just right. We were in Helen Friday and Saturday and was surprised they were having Octoberfest that weekend. Got to see a parade and visited a lot of the shops. Really lots of fun.

Now we are back home and have to get back on track. I am really glad to be home cause I did miss our bed. I wouldn't trade what we experienced but like mama used to say--there's no place like home and your own bed. lol Tomorrow, back to exercise class and my walking. We all did a lot of walking last week but not the usual fast walking that I do.

Oh, David is going to be back at his home for the next 2 weeks in Atlanta so Molly got to go back home with him. We may have her again in 2 weeks but will have a little break. Donna (local dd) stayed at our home and dog-sat Molly and Toby (our lab) while we vacationed. I made that deal this past summer when I kept Prissy (her dog) while she went on a family vacation.
