Ridiculous?? What do you think?

Friday, October 26, 2012

Having 4 kids has made simple things like moving from one season into the next a bit of a "job". Because it is basically winter here, we need to get out the winter coats, ski pants, boots(snow boots & nice ones) mitts, touques, neck warmers, long sleeve Tees, sweaters(cotton &knit), jeans, skirts with funky tights and everything else clothing wise I forgot to mention.

I am frugal by nature. My frugality has been a blessing while being a stay-at-home mama all these years. I do not throw out much. If my oldest grows out of something, it gets stored in a labeled bin for the next in line to use when it fits. Having 4 girls has made this system move along nicely. This storage systme goes for EVERYTHING clothing and gear wise that you can imagine.

Our little project this morn was to go through the summer and winter shoes and switch out what we don't need. In the process we decided to count and HOLA...142 pairs...what??? OK, so in my defense, cause I sure need one when hubby finds this out-haha, this total includes shoes the youngest has grown out of that will finally be give away, tons of "grow into" shoes from oldest down the line that nobody fits right now, shoes that have been given to us or bought as gifts and then....ahem...I just love shoes. I'm still laughing & kinda in awe.

Maybe I'm not as frugal as I'd like to think when it comes to this department. The next step is to actually get them to try them on, see what fits and make a give away pile and store the rest. It will be interesting what comes out of that. As I look around, this entire collection was either in storage or in the bins I have given each child in their closet. I have purchased only 2 pairs of shoes for my oldest cause she doesn't get hand-me-downs from anywhere.

My oldest got a kick out of this whole process and took a few pics...

I know this is not fitness OR nutrition related but it is life, my life, and I just HAD to share this with my sparkfriends.

Happy Friday all!

LOVE this! I totally relate to this blog! ;)
When their feet quit growing, it will get a little easier…. the clothing thing - I am somehow down to only 2 bins between my five. I have no idea how. I guess because my boys are about the same size now. Anyway, it made us switching out seasons a little easier this year. And it is totally health related in my opinion….mental health, lol, it's a stressful thing sometimes!! emoticon
    Enjoy the winter weather!

How did I miss this blog? Well, better late than never! I just love the pictures! I have the same storage system with my girls but they're only two, so I can imagine how much work you have to do at the change of seasons!
I'm sure the girls had lots of fun trying all these pairs on. I know mine would have!
You're blessed with a beautiful family and I'm so happy for you!
    Have a beautiful week.

You sound so organized! I love the pics. Do the girls have fun trying them on to see which ones fit? I'm a shoe addict too so I know how quickly they can multiply!

Hilarious! We have an ongoing shoe issue at my house too! I have one older girl and younger twin girls, so that means the older ones' hand-me-downs have to be shared which usually does not go over well! Plus, my older is a bit of a fancy girl, while my twins are total tomboys with a serious funky streak! So hand me downs don't always work! And, doesn't it seem like no matter how many shoes are flying around the house, they never seem to have the right ones on for the occasion? Sometimes I have to laugh at what they come up with!

Love the pics! DD home schools and she has 3 girls. The twins get the new shoes and the youngest gets hand-me-downs. Twins are 11 and are now about one shoe size apart. I have seen their entryway--lots of shoes! Don't know about your DH, but my SIL wears large shoes (13-14) and they can trip me up if I am not watching where I am walking. They take up quite a bit of space.

I think I will share this with her and see how many pairs she come up with.LOL

emoticon for sharing. Gave me a smile. emoticon

So funny! Good job on being so organized and not wasting anything--shoes included! I only have one daughter so far. I would love to have another girl. We have so many girl things we've been saving. One day.

Shoes are important. There are shoes for every occasion. I pulled my spinning shoes out of the closet this week for a class. It helps to have the right shoes!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I will remember this when I have another.

Nice pics! I hate to think of similar things going on in my own household. Fortunately, we're not that well organized so I'll never see such an obscene display here. :-)

It looks like some centipedes are having a party are your house and they left all their shoes in the kitchen! It made me laugh!!! With 8 kids at our house, both boys and girls I think we could do the same! But in reality boys do tend to completely destroy the shoes that they like to wear!

Hope the little feet in your house will be happy and warm!
