I just bought my first pedometer. I have been trying to do the take 10,000 steps thing. It has definitely been an eye opener. I hadn't realized just how little moving I did in the day. I'm busy for sure, being a stay at home mom and homeschooling my children. However, the homeschooling means spending a significant amount of time sitting in front of a computer (since they recieve part of their homeschooling online via a virtual academy). I also try to streamline my household activities to get the most accomplished in the shortest amount of time (which isn't bad in and of itself except for things like using a laundry basket to put away laundry in one sweep where as if I do it without the basket I have to make several trips and thus walk more steps). I have been modifying my days to try and hit that 10,000 steps goal (even if it means walking around while I read or watch a movie with my family). I haven't hit it yet but I've been increasing the steps daily and its only a matter of time.
