Yes, I'm still alive

Saturday, June 07, 2014

I resisted Facebook for sooo long . . . But then I created a community page about my running - Chocolaterunsjudy - and because there are only so many hours in a day, I spend most of my online time there.

So let's see . . . Feb was a bad month in a bad winter & I gained several pounds.

March we went to Las Vegas & had gorgeous weather & I did a running tour (very fun!) & ran in Red Rock Canyon Park (so hard!).

Unfortunately I got sick & was sick pretty much all of April.

Tomorrow I am running my 7th HM, the Heartbreak Hill HM. We are in Newton, MA now & I knew the course was hilly, but seeing the reality is daunting! And it will be warmer than I'd like - looks to be my warmest HM so far - but not terrible. Low to mid 60s at the start (I know, in TX that would be cold).

I've trained really hard for this. I've run more than I ever have before - up to 30 miles a week - even doing 8 mile runs DURING the week! Really hope all that hard training pays off.

The upside is that on Thursday, for the first time in decades, I weighed in slightly below my WW GW.

I'm not sure if it's because of the running, or because maybe, finally, at 52, I think I'm starting menopause. Don't get me wrong, I've been in perimenopause forever. But I started to get very mild hot flashes, have skipped a couple of periods & am not getting those huge cystic zits I used to at TOM. On the negative side, (sorry guys), sex has become painful (been using a lubricant for years, so that's not the issue). I have a dr's appt next month.

Of course I've been carbing up so I'm sure my weight will be higher.

My bib number is 25. I will probably never have a double digit bib number again! I guess I thought more people would be signing up for this one. Looks like maybe 3000 running the HM but it's hard to tell.

So if you're on Facebook, like me at Chocolaterunsjudy I miss you guys & I hope you're all doing well.

Yes, dryness is a menopause side effect that sucks.

Have been wondering about you and miss you. I'm not on FB, so our time together was only on SP. Thanks for the update. Always wishing you the best.

CONGRATS ... I gave up on Facebook a long time ago. SP is far more useful to my goals.
